I'm in for the batik strip exchange. I'm now at the stage that I can't wait to open the forum to see what's happened since I was online - which is now more than once a day!

Welcome Sensational Strippers!!! That is the name for our strip exchange

The rules for this exchange are simple as no sewing is involved.

1. The strips must be batik.
2. All strips must be 1 1/4" wide and approximately 22" long. This will allow you to use fat quarters or cut a full width of fabric strip in half. This size will work well with the quilts in Edyta's Friendship Strips and Scraps book.
3. You must sign up by February 21st (I'm am giving plenty of time for all who want to participate to get registered).
4. The strips are due to me by April 30th. I will keep track of everyone who has signed up and let you know when I sort sorting and when the packages are back in the mail.
5. Please put your strips in a zip loc bag with your name and the # of strips you have included. You will get the same amount back
6 Include a self addressed envelope with the same postage on it that you used to send the strips to me.
7. Send me an email and I will send you my address.

Happy Stripping,
Barb in Houston

I would love to be part of the cream and batik exchange. I am also part of the larger exchange and I already have my paper. This should be fun. Thank you for organizing this.

Ritzy - Here's one more for the batik scramble and THANKS so much for taking this on. Lots of fun for all of us and lots of work for just one.
Hope to hear that you've got some willing hands to help close by. I'll email immediately.

Thanks, Dawn. That's what I thought but the wording confused me.

Here's another question - if we make more than the minimum # of blocks, do they all have to be from the same two fabrics?

Robin, the pressing is to set the stitches. It is easiest to do right after you have sewn a whole sheet. Iron the whole sheet, paper side down, and the whole sheet lays nice and flat for cutting. Then do the cutting. Your are now done. (Folded just means the square has not been pressed open.)

I guess I made the deadline with a couple of days to spare. Count me in, Ritzy and thanks for agreeing to organize this. You may be sorry.
I love batiks and this is a good chance for me to at least acquire some small pieces of ones that are not in my stash.

I have a question for you:
In your instructions (and these are the same as in the more general triangle exchange) you say "After sewing, cut the squares apart on the solid lines, leave it folded with the paper on and press carefully while it is still folded. No need to worry about pressing seams open because it remains folded." Do I press the seams open to reveal the square or do I just send triangles with the paper on which have not yet been pressed open? I'm not quite sure I understand the use of the term 'folded'.

Thanks.

What wonderful news. The numbers are really growing on participants. I have some batiks HSTs made with cream batik on one side and a lovely dark batik on the other. The colors are very pretty - wine, purple, blue, green, violet, orange, brown. This is going to be so cool!!!! I am going to wait for the final count so I can have triangles to exchange with everyone. I have about 112 so far made up. Now I will need to find another project (Like I really need) . I am just doing this because I am waiting for my 2011 BOM kit in the Mauve/Rose collorway to become available.
