I am going to try to send photos of the quilt top which I have placed on my king bed. Wish me luck.

I thought I would bind the quilt in the green, or possibly try a pieced binding using the fabric from the stars, etc.

Comments please! Janet

I think you are right, it looks like I just added a slab to make it bigger. It is the Star Crazy quilt and I completed just like the pattern, then added the 10 " of the white to the last small green border.

I do think your suggestion of using a light color instead of the white would look better than that white on white. It would look more finished. I was hoping not to have to deal with those long borders again, but guess I must since I am so unsure at this point. It has been too much of my time, and work to get it quilted before I am completely happy with the look!

Thanks Janet

Without seeing a photo, I would say that just a slab of white around all that piecing would look unfinished. Like you just added a slab of border to make it bigger.
Is there a lot of white in your piecing? If not, maybe it's the color that doesn't work.

Maybe you would like it better if you add a 6" or 8" solid border ( using a light value color from the quilt) then a 4" or 2" pieced border to frame it. Maybe just 2" pieced squares?
A pretty cable would look good in a 6 or 8" space so she would have her fancy quilting, but a really creative quilter could fill the entire 10" if that what you decide to use.

I will take a photo and try to post it. My daughter loves quilting designs and I wanted a large area for some custom quilting ie cables, feathers, etc., but it just doesn't look right to me. Janet

Janet,

Can you post a picture of what it looks like? Initially, I was thinking maybe there is just too much open space. Could you perhaps add some applique to this section in order to give your eyes a place to rest?

Has anyone made the Stars BOM 2010 king sized? I have just made the quilt and then added 10 inches of the white on all side which makes the quilt 102 inches.

Not sure if I like it, the proportions seem off to me. Any suggestions, comments? I am having it quilted for my daughter. Thanks, Janet
