Hi Guys,

You know you can add an image to your forum message right? Yuu just click the "Img" button above then put in the link to your pic then click the "Img" button again. You can post your photos to your Flicker account image for example (or other free photo site)... Below is an example...I WISH this was my sewing room.

The dream quilt room 19 Feb 2007 11:25 #1151

Wow, you all have great ideas for a quilt room. I had taken over a 4th bedroom in my home but then I made the mistake of letting my husband put his computer desk in there. While it's convenient for me to get on the puter and check out websites, email and the such, I did lose my cutting table. I'm thinking about banishing him to the basement! But then I'd miss him, so alas, I work in a smaller area. My quilt table is a computer desk with a large extention on it. I have to move my machine in order to machine quilt, but it works out ok for peicing. Someday I hope to have more room. I'll put the picture in my profile soon and please please please excuse the mess!!!!

Would it be possible (practical) to have an upload space on our profile in which to place a picture of our workarea/sewing room? That would sure be easier than having to go to web-shots, blogs, etc. I don't know if the web-powers-that-be could separate that from the quilt show, which is great! But that way it would be visible when we view each other's profiles.

Great idea, QuilterLynn! Hopefully those web-powers-that-be will give this some thought. I love to see how others organize their space.

sewso..the best choice for the sun issue is hire it professionally done..you can buy film and do it yourself, but we have both and I will never do it myself again..the difference is amazing..check out your local window/windshield shops, they should be able to recommend someone

Love the idea of an ironing table with storage and on wheels. I'll put it on my list of "honey do's"! I better not press my luck too soon as yesterday my hubby installed brand new double pane windows in my south facing sewing/sunroom. What a big difference in this room of windows. The rest of our home is rather dark, which is good in the Florida summer, but I want the great natural light for sewing. I do need some kind of window covering against the too bright morning sun, and also privacy at night since that's when I get the most work done. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

ETA: I forgot to mention the most important improvement in my sewing room lately...Shelves above my work area! :D Can't have too many shelves!!!

I love seeing other sewing rooms. I don't have any pictures but I have a great idea. I put my Big Board (ironing surface) on top of two Ikea wire basket units. They are on wheels so I can roll it wherever I want it. I did the same thing with a table top for my cutting table. Now if I would just stop stacking fabric on them!!

OK, now I'm jealous...how about you, Helen?!

Judy, I can identify (or can't, in my case) with you having enough plug ins. I'm sewing in my sunroom, which has been the kitties litter room for years. I have one wall outlet, so you can imagine the array of cords I have stretched all over the room. I'm getting new windows soon, and then DH promises me he'll get to the electricity next! I do have excellent lighting in this south facing room...in fact, too much so this time of year. I have to wait until around noon to sew if I need to view my screen for embroidering, or decorative stitches.

Thaks Judy for sharing the pics of your quilting room. Love the idea of the cabinet under the cutting table. Been thinking of doing the same thing, but was unsure how it would look and fit.
