TOPIC: What fabric to use for dyeing

fabric 24 Apr 2007 17:24 #3899

I don't know about Ricky, but I bought a 30 yard bolt of 58" wide Pimatex cotton, 133 X 72 thread count from Dharma Trading Co. (NAYYY), and am very happy with it. It has the "silky" feel of the Bali batiks. It takes dye really well.

What fabric to use for dyeing 24 Apr 2007 17:10 #3897

Hi everyone, I'd like to get opinions on the type of fabric you use to dye.
I've used muslin and like the 'hand' of it and it hand quilts nicely. I've also heard lots of people say they use Kona cotton. To me, it's much thicker than the muslin and I'm not sure I'd want to hand quilt it. BTW, I use
Procion MX fiber reactive dyes.

Ricky, you do such beautiful work, what's your choice?

Thanks all for your answers.

Have a great day. quiltnlady (Sharon in TN)
