So what is the difference between the Nancy Notions CD and the Electric Quilt Company CD?

It is exactly the same. Nancy's Notions just isn't going to carry the software any more so they have discounted it deeply.

I've been playing in it and it is really addicting. I don't plan on making the quilt 'exactly' as the mother Dear Jane quilt so I'm playing with placement of blocks, etc. One example is that I am placing the triangle blocks only on three sides and not at the top of the quilt.

A lady in my guild has finished her quilt and is passing along the cd to me!! WooHoo!!
JoJo, I haven't even washed my background yet. I just haven't had the time. I got a new computer for my quilting machine and it has fried my brain totally for the last week.

JoJo,
I think you'll have to look at calicoes(sp?). They have the small prints.
Nancy, I never even thought about the shrinking!! Thanks for the heads up.
Norina, I agree that the Kona muslin is pretty steep, but it feels SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our local Quilt Show was today and my MIL and I did our part in helping the economy!

Anyway, I found at least 6 nice and small print black/whites and got 1/2 yard cuts. I know that won't be enough but at least I can get started on a block.

Have you made a template yet for your first block and if yes, which one did you choose? I've decided to not go in order....Must be the rebel in me! :P

I should get my background fabric soon. It is expensive (I got to take advantage of my quilt shop's 50% off if I buy an entire bolt), but quality fabric will feel so much better in our hands.

That's important since we will be playing with it for a 'l.o.n.g' time! :D

I'm on the hunt still for black/white fabrics. I'm having a hard time find small prints. Everything is big and bold. Bold is good, but big won't show on these small pieces.

Nancy,
I did listen to everyone. I stopped at Jo-Ann's last night (with coupons) and got the Kona muslin. One bolt (15 yds I think) also Kona has solid colors and w/coupon got one yard of some colors for embroidery (for the winter). Spent a lot of $ but well worth it....Norina

I am using the Kona muslin and I know it was expensive, but I also used a coupon. I WOULD NOT use that cheep muslin!!! That is for foundations, Halloween costumes and other crafty uses.

Don't spend all the time in making this one of a kind quilt and use inferior muslin!! If you don't want to buy the Kona, at least buy the best of the other muslins, $3.99 or so!

Also, prewash!! Muslin will shrink alot!

I went to Jo-Anns last night and wanted to pick up the Kona musslin fabric. It was 8.99 a yard. I do have my coupon for 40 and one for 50 % off but was supprised to see it so much.....they had some for 1.99 a yard. What makes this so special? I wanted it for the Dear Jane quilt that I will be making... :(
