The discussion on doodling is very interesting. Years back when I still had a TV I often sat doodling when watching something and very often came ideas that I used for my creative work. It's my opinion than when your brain is occupied somewhere else your unconscious creative side can come through. I decided to sell the TV because I often felt very annoyed after spending time in front of it, but it was with a bit of concern if I was ever able to have a creative idea again.

How has not having a TV worked out for you? Where, when & how do you tap into your creative energy now?

Have your tried substituting the radio - music, plays etc. for the tv, it might work as well, because it is occupying your thinking brain, so the creative side can sneak past and out through your doodling.

I have enjoyed reading about everyone's quilts, but am having a hard time finding all to look at. Please remember to post them in the show and tell for the Priority Quilts also, so the rest of us can enjoy them. Donated 1 quilt a few years back and have two more in process. Need to get permission from designed of the pattern for one of them.

Wouldn't it be interesting how much the sport influenced the doodling. Fishing, Tennis and Biking. Waves, bounces and loops humm.

Too strange, I too was doodling today whilst watching the men's final at Wimbledon. Keeping the creative juices flowing is how I see it. :D

It was a surprise to finally get to the computer and see this as I decided that I need to draw/doodle more often to improve my quilting so earlier today I was drawing and amazing as it sounds one of them is even a fish inspired by the tile in my sons pool that I was lucky enough to enjoy in Thurs. & Fri. Have a wonderful week and keep creating!

Writing a list or a journal full of thoughts is like a river of fish spawning. Each of the fish is a creative idea. By filling the river full of fish all you have to do is grab one when you are ready. You are just keeping your creative river full of fish by doing the lists and journals. It's a great way to encourage the creativity to flow. It is better not to do most and to keep the energy and passion alive and productive. Enjoy doing what you love.
Beautifully said, Clara!! And this morning, I've been drawing -- just doodles at first, but out of about the third page sprang a lovely idea. Can't wait to make it into a quilt! Robin

Hi Aileen - I have a list, too! Isn't that funny? But I don't think I've even gotten around to one on the list yet because so many others keep popping up!

Nancy

They're lovely! Kittens are just the cutest! The Square in the square has wonderful quilting on it!

I am trying to do different styles of FMQ in my little quilts to get some practice.

Making quilts For Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative is a great outlet to try new things, new ideas! I started writing them down because the "What if's?" come flying out of my head so much faster for the little quilts than they do you the large ones. It is such a wonderful cause. I hope to continue making little quilts until I can't pick up a needle.
