I'll try to upload them. However...I don't see the upload button. I must need to scroll down somewhere else. Please help. I have all the photos of my latest little quilts ready to show.

Nancy, to post a photo here you scroll down the page and you will see 'upload attachment' click on that and follow the directions from there it's pretty straightforward. You won't see the actual photo until you either preview it or submit it otherwise it's just numbers and parentheses. Hope that helps and I look forward to seeing your latest opus. :D

I just finished another one. Are you familiar with Four-Patch Stacked Posies? It's a great technique similar to stack & whack but only using 4 repeats. Anyway, I had just finished cutting out what turned out to be 29 6-1/2" blocks and I thought that the little edges of the stack just might work for very little blocks. Well, it did and I made an AAQI out of twelve 2" blocks, set on point on a yellow background, fused in place and buttonhole stitched with invisible thread around each one and small stippling in between. It turned out quite pretty. I'll post it after I take a photo. Not sure how to put a photo on this site...I can do it on my member blog.
Nancy, glad you could join us with the passion you have!!! When I get back home, I will re posts the links for everyone and update some numbers. Clara

Nancy that is such a great accomplishment, and for such a worthy cause. They are kind of addictive aren't they? :D

I just found out about this challenge through my member blog. I've been making AAQI quilts for a few years...can't remember when I started, but my first was #1244 so that was a while ago. My latest on the web site is #10059 which hasn't sold yet...they put an $80 price tag on it, so no wonder. Maybe it will go to Houston. Several of mine sold there last fall. I've sold $751.11 so far for 14 quilts. I love making them. I got my daughter hooked a year and a half ago when she was out of work for 10 weeks with a broken ankle. She has made over 40 of them and has topped $1000. :D I am going to register my latest two and am working on another. I'll let you know their numbers when I get them.

I've never heard about this way of using the MX colors. Another tool for my toolbox. Thank you, Clara, for sharing that

Thanks Clara. I will have to try this. :D
The first time we are all thumbs and going slower and careful. Actually the setup to finish time is so much faster than mixing and applying solutions of dye. I use 2.5 gallon bags to hold about a two yards of fabric in. When you do your ice and powders just close and go to the next. When all done they are easy to move out in the sun and transport to your rince area. And reausable!!! Have fun. Clara

Clara what is 'ice dyeing'? And how do you do it? I have been doing some dying too but that looks like something I could try. Love in-progress photos too, please.
Layer fabric or clothing that has already been soaked in a soda ash solution, with 2-3 inches of ice on top and then sprinkle with dye powder (CAREFUL!!! Use mask always with dye powder. It's mega fine and easy to breathe in!!!) Cover or seal and leave for 12-24 hours in warm environment. Wash multiple times with Synthropol. As the ice melts it takes random samples of the dye down to the fabric. Don't plan the effect only the colors you want.
