"Afternoon Delight" was one of Sue Garman's favorite patterns. This wonderfully scrappy quilt is truly a delight to make with its combination of simple appliqué and Double Nine-Patch blocks and modified Shoo Fly blocks. Each month you will work on pieced and appliquéd blocks, and in the final month, you will assemble the blocks and add the outer border. The finished quilt measures approximately 86 1/2" inches square.

Let's use this Topic "Afernoon Delight Show and Tell" as a place to show off your beautiful blocks. That way, you know where to come to see what everyone is doing.

The topics that apply to each month are a good place to ask questions or make suggestions for each block.

AND when you post your photos to Social Media, like Instagram, Facebook, etc., use either of these hash tags so everyone there will be able to find our wonderful work:

Thanks so much for the opportunity to follow this BOM. I have completed my blocks and sewn them together. this is the border trim I[m working on.(hopefully it will showup)
This was a great challenge for me and a wonderful learning experience. To all the quilters who have participated and added their pictures and comments, and to you Barbara for
sharing your knowledge as well, thanks again.

I'm looking for a nice red print repro that is not directional. Something that reads almost solid from a distance. I probably will lay it out and play with the layout and maybe sew rows together. But I have other projects to keep me busy for now.

You could join all the blocks into rows but cannot join the rows together easily as the perimeter triangles are added to both ends of each row before the rows are joined. You would have to do partial seaming on each end of each row and that I would find excruciating, just saying...

LauraL, that is exactly where I am. I can't decide what color to use for the wide border. I am not getting to quilting stores now, so I don't know when I will be able to look.

I've given up trying to post photos, but I have completed all of the blocks. I'm still looking for fabric for the borders so I can put it together. Maybe when I can travel to the next state. I'd really like to sew it all together.

Thanks Barbara. I don't know how I missed that on both your blog and the instructions! I found the 1 yard for the inner border but missed the other yardage amount.
Thanks for all your help during this past year. I am excited for the new BOM too. I don't think I would attempt it without this forum and your tutorials.bbquiltmaker wrote:

I am ready to put the top together but need fabric for the setting triangles and border. Does the pattern say how much fabric is needed for this? I could not find it.

So much fun seeing unveiling BOM 2020 in Houston with my daughter. Eagerly anticipated each month, completed 12/23/20. Machine appliqués and quilted on domestic machine with batik fabrics.
