Join us on a TQS exclusive 12-month creative journey with Becky Goldsmith as we bring you "Sizzle," a stunning quilt designed especially for TQS.
Each month we will provide photos, detailed directions for a portion of the quilt, and full-size patterns. Becky has also created a selection of "how-to" videos to guide you along the way.
Let's use this Topic "Sizzle Show and Tell" as a place to show off your beautiful Sizzle Blocks. That way, you know where to come to see what everyone is doing.
The topics that apply to each month are a good place to ask questions or make suggestions for each block.
AND when you post your photos to Social Media, like Instagram, Facebook, etc., use either of these hash tags so everyone there will be able to find our wonderful work:

Love what you are doing. I love Jinnny Beyer fabrics and the way she uses color. I am doing similar with the background and the star circle background
but in black. HelenW

Hi and thank you! I’m using all kit fabric except for the background which is a Riley Blake navy with light circles. On Sunday I went to our group meeting the Sunday Sew and Sews and saw everyone else’s blocks. So many have chosen their own fabrics. They look great and it makes me want to try making a table runner with my own fabric choices. Barbara Black our leader said one person is even using Christmas fabric. Isn’t that intriguing!

<<Oh but I am doing freezer paper foundation>>
Deeau...your colors really pop! I look forward to seeing your quilt progress. Regarding freezer paper foundation piecing. I have tried it and just didn't get the results I wanted. However, it does allow for the reuse of the printed foundation. Perhaps something as large as this design might be OK for me and I might try it for one of the blocks.

Block 1 done and dusted...an in time. Although I am a "seasoned" quilter I never usually follow a pattern or colours, this time I am playing by the rules...Oh but I am doing freezer paper foundation ( where you don't sew through like Judy Mathieson Show 707)

I'm finally starting this month's block, I have a couple of questions: Should I starch my fabrics? seems like for the paper pieced parts it would be a good idea. And, what are the 4 spools of thread that were included in the kit to be used for? Are they for the applique or quilting? I plan on using Aurifil 50 weight thread for the piecing part since it is thin and strong.
It's exciting to see what all the blocks look like. i wasn't up to choosing colors so I went with the cool kit. The fabrics are beautiful.

I had a late start and am finally finished with Block 1. I love reds and pinks and am using a combination of my own fabric stash and newly purchased fabrics. Sewing the circle into the frame was a learning experience for me. Looking forward to Block 2!
