I finished month 4. I'm so glad I read forum comments about the gray border before I started as it prepared me to be more careful when cutting and sewing. I made the outer square-in-square borders first to be sure I got to the ending measurement, then cut the gray border 1.25 inches to give me the finished 3/4".
It all worked out OK thanks to the heads up.
FYI- I just got back from MQX (machine quilters expo) where I bought a Clapper- solid wood block that you lay down on top of a seam you've just ironed (steamed or spritzed). Wood absorbs the moisture and weight presses down. Seams come out FLAT! With all the seams in the border for month 4 (and more coming) I'm definitely going to be using my clapper to get a flatter, more finished look.
