Geneva - so glad your husband is doing well. I love the heartbeat quilt - so apt and so helpful if we can put our emotions into a craft that turns frustration, fear, anger, and whatnot into a beautiful thing that makes one happy.

Eileen, hope your hand heals quickly and you can really enjoy the workshop to its fullest. wow - 32 fabrics - what fun - looking forward to seeing the result.

I'm back to work - wanted to work full time as of last week - but from about noon onwards i feel naucious and then get dizzy - so - am working 60 percent for the rest of the month - with the physio that's plenty. a colleague from work will be having the same surgery at the end of the month - so i want to make her a pillow if I can get enough energy - for having had all that time off i really havn't done a thing (two feet on my fractured elephant quilt - one block of the murder mystery quilt and absolutely nothing else... but during the weeks after surgery I tried all types of pillows to help me sleep (tucked under my knee / tucked around the knee / on the side to keep steady - most were either too fat / too heavy / too hard / too thin/ too this / too that. in the end I used a down pillow covering which is meant to be used over a foam or other synthetic core - without the foam core. very light, very soft while still having a good fill. so i'm going to buy one for my friend Berrin and want to make a couple of pretty covers for it.

made one quilt in november - something bright and soft - for me to wrap up in during my time at home :) still have not taken a proper picture thoug.

Geneva, love both your quilts! Glad hubby is doing well-hope he keeps that regular rhythm going. Galaxy is very cool and I like the quilting you did on it.

I missed both my January and February days! Well, I'm only 2 days late for this month.
I had a ganglion cyst removed from my left hand/wrist. It was sitting right on a bone and had wrapped a little around a tendon. Since I'm going to the Academy of Applique at the end of this month, I figured I'd get it taken care of. It popped up out of nowhere on New Year's Eve. Go figure. I've got 4 stitches in my hand but was able to do some hand applique at my monthly stitching group yesterday.
I'm gathering all the fabrics I need for the academy. It's not a huge project but it has 32 different fabrics! Wow! It will be super colorful. I had more than half of what I needed in my stash, so only had to shop for 12 fabrics. Not too shabby. ;)
I'm still going to PT for my knee replacement and hope that will be done soon. The doctors and therapists all tell me how well I'm doing, but it still hurts. I guess I'm impatient. :)
So, I don't have anything to show this month, as usual. But I am plugging along.

Hi Geneva! Great to see “Heart Beat” and “Galaxy”!

I gifted myself a new sewing machine (Bernina 570) while at the RD2CA show. We’re still getting acquainted. Looking forward to a long friendship. First project is the 2016 row exchange.

Well, it's sure quiet on this thread. I guess everyone is busy making quilts! At least I hope so.

My day to post is coming up this week. We will be out of town so I thought I'd show you what I had been up to.

I don't see the quilt I made that released a lot of emotion about my husband's pacemaker surgery. (He's doing well). It's called "Heartbeat: Making Pace". If I've showed it before, I'm sorry. The fabric is a piece that I hand dyed a year or so ago. The top lines show the pauses in his heartbeat. The lower lines show the healthy heartbeat with fresh oxygen and blood flowing.

I finally finished the Galaxy quilt. I'm glad to be done. It was a struggle with setting and quilting the "dust" but I think it turned out pretty good.

I'm now ready to start something new. Just waiting for something to hit me upside the head and say "Go make this!"

I hope all is well with you. I miss hearing from you and seeing what you are making.

Take care, geneva

Luann, I enjoy finding your blog in my email inbox. You make me laugh, sigh, ooh and ahh, think and ponder. Thank you!

Thanks Eileen for the compliment. I am amazed that June, after 10 years, still makes people happy. Adding Cheryl's quilt gives both quilts a new look. I like to think Sue would be happy. Happy that people are loving her patterns in many different ways.

My husband is doing well. I've seen lots of improvement in his physical and mental state. I look back now and see how sick he was and we didn't know why. It truly is a serendipitous miracle! A new lease on life. :cheer:

Hope all is well! geneva

Geneva, what a great exhibit! You're absolutely right-Sue was a great teacher and taught us all so much. I've never seen this particular quilt in b/w, and it's a real beauty.
Glad your hubs is doing better; baby steps, right?

Geneva,
Those quilts are both beautiful.

My day of the month was yesterday. I have had a few other things that have to be taken care of but,,, I did get 2 blog posts done. One for a recap of the year and the one that is for ‘finishing my Leap Year’ on the 5th of January. No spoiler coming, you’ll have to go read the blog to know what the heck I’m talking about, LOL

And off I go to the next meeting of this day,,,,

Hello! It's sure been quiet here. I hope all is well.

Our local guild was asked to hang quilts at a local Art Gallery "Allied Arts" in Richland, WA for the month of January. My friend Cheryl Garrison and I have been wanting to hang our Sue Garman 2009 Stars for a New Day quilts together. (Mine is called "June Cleaver on Acid.") Today we hung them together! The amazing thing is that these were made in 2009 when I lived in California and Cheryl lived in Michigan. We did not know each other until we both moved here and met at the guild a few years ago. We had been talking about our quilts and realized that hers was a study in black and white and mine was a riot of every color possible. We are so pleased to see them hanging together. It's interesting that by using Sue's pattern and instructions one quilt came out a little larger than the other. But that's why Sue taught us to measure and cut our borders to match our sizes. Sue was a wonderful teacher. She is missed.

And this also goes to show that TQS can and does bring people together from all over the world. I like that.

Take care my friends! geneva

Hello my friends!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We had a nice time with family.

Last Thursday my husband started wearing a heart monitor for 30 days. He had blacked out the week before and luckily fell against me, not being injured. Last time he blacked out he fell and broke 2 ribs. Anyway, he wore the monitor for 5 hours when the Cardiologist called and told me to take him to ER immediately. Long story short he got a pacemaker and is doing so well! Though it was scary, we are so relived to know that it was a relatively easy fix. It's a happy new year for us!

Luann, I read your blog post today. I like getting them in my email inbox. You've been busy! I miss seeing you around here.

All the best to all the lounge lizards in 2020!

Terry love all your posts and work especially the 3 sisters and your early quilt. All made me smile.

Eileen my mum used the phrase when she hadn't got anything ready for a meal or not been shopping. It means she gives you a slice of bread and you point in the cupboard for what you want on it :cheer:

I missed posting on my day which was the 16th. . .I had a finish. . .it was the project that my youngest granddaughter helped me draw.
I started a new project with some heavily petted fabrics from my stash. Post 1, post 2, post 3, post 4

I decided to play along with Bonnie Hunter and her "Frolic" mystery. I even started a group so I could play with more friends. It has been such a fun experience! Post 1, post 2

I documented one of the first quilt projects I stitched. I'm going to try to do more of this documenting in 2020.

I wish you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Eileen hope you have a good recovery and get that knee and leg strong again. Lotti has just had a knee op too last week she's still on crutches. It'll be good to see you sewing again.

Love all the finishes you've all posted and it's lovely to see your quilts in use Geneva. Wow the photography was so good.

Apologies for not posting much recently, I'll get in the swing in the new year. I'm still sewing and making a couple of journal competition quilts that I'll get round to sharing. Can't remember what I got up to.
I've been doing some needlefelting as well which is really calming if the results aren't.

I'm just cooking up a turkey rather early as my dear husband bought one too big for the freezer!! It'll be bread and point at Christmas
