Rosemary, Sounds like you would need a canoe with all the rain up your way. Hope you aren't affected by the flooding that I am hearing about on the news.

Lorna
We are well clear of the floods where we are, although all the rivers & canals are very full. Added good news is that although parts of York have been/are flooded, the Quilt Museum, despite being relatively close to the Fosse river, is sufficiently up an incline and also built above the height of the pavement outside, is clear and dry of the flood waters - unlike the Jorvik Centre which has been flooded out.

Well, it would certainly be fun to try!

I received a Go cutter for Christmas. I have been working on rows and the cutter makes it faster and more accurate. Plus I am using up my stash. My plan for the coming year is to use up some of my stash. This row by row is helping and I plan to make some scrappy quilts.

In the latest American Quilter magazine there is an article about Janome asking famous quilters to make a quilt block using specific fabrics. Guess what!? They are all 6 1/2" square. 6" finished. I've already used 2 blocks for 2 different rows. Here is the link. www.janome.com/en/100quiltblocks/download-blocks/ These are fun to make. Since we only have to make 6 blocks it's a fun way to try new things. If you click on the picture of a specific block it shows how to make the block.

Take care, geneva

I tried it. I like it. Thank you, Geneva

Good for you, Geneva! I've heard most people who have a 'Go!" really like it.

And, thanks for the link. I have bookmarked it - so useful!

Actually, it's a quote from a famous Canadian historian. Pierre Berton. I guess he was having a funny moment!

Terrie, thank you. Your definition brought a smile to my face. What I will not ask is if you are a true Canadian. Have a good day!

Ouch! Lois, you've twisted my arm too much!

Okay, here is it:

A TRUE Canadian is one who can make love in a canoe. (without it tipping over!) Pierre Berton

I've skimmed all of your latest posts, and can't comment on every one right now, but hope every rower is having a great holiday season. Personally, I celebrate Christmas and spent a few days in the Los Angeles area with our daughter, husband, and almost two year old granddaughter. Just finished unpacking and doing laundry today. (Got in super late last night due to domino effect, late flights, from all of the storms across the nation.)

Luann, I pray the haste in doing all of your rows early, is not a health issue with an upcoming year of surgeries and doctor visits for you or anyone in your family!

And Lotti, I sure hope your ear is doing better! What a bummer! I hope you were able to enjoy some small parts of Christmas.

Blessing to you all! It is hard to believe it is almost next year. And, I have not yet to start my first row.

Dawn

Rosemary - you are a brave soul to attempt canoeing in the winter!

Lotti - I agree with the others, hope you continue to heal quickly!
Luann - I can't believe how fast you are! I'm trying to work on my rows but thanks to "morning" sickness (which should be called all day sickness) I've spent most of my vacation time in bed or on the couch. Tomorrow I go back to work...hopefully I'll get more done this weekend ;)

I am happy how my first two rows are coming along. My color choices have created an unexpected "secondary" pattern. Hope the recipients like it too!

Ritzy - glad your holidays turned out well. I think ours get better each passing year!

Ritzy - glad that you had such a good visit.

Rosemary - great about the canoe. Do you know one of the definitions of a 'true' Canadian that refers to canoes? If you haven't heard, email me. I can't say it on the forum
