Oops the colours are wrong on the photo but never mind I'll do one when I've finished.

Oh dear I've lost my marbles I posted on CW thinking I was here so here is a copy to explain the above

"I've had a great day I went on a workshop. It was called Treasured Splinters and run by Viv Denscombe www.embroideryviv.co.uk/index.html . We made a strippy type quilt based on a photo. I used a photo a friend sent me of her farm in Australia. It's 36" x 7" which is a lot longer and narrower than I've done before. I used lots of my hand dyes, some scrim, tulle, sari silk and bits. Such fun and so much playing. I'll try and get an upright pic for you but it needs embellishing and finishing yet.

Roll on Wednesday I'm on another workshop making a quilt from a Klimt picture called Summer Fantasy which is the same sort of playing. This is a great retreat week for me except that the old man drilled through the hot pipe on Friday so we've no hot water all weekend. Luckily a plumber is coming Monday to fix a new bathroom. I'm beginning to smell."

Pam, hope this finds you well or 'on the mend' from last week's time in the hospital.
May God bless you with calmness to handle whatever He allows in your life,

Kathy, Yes it does wash up very nice. I have several friends/babies that love to sleep and snuggle under the quilts that I made using Kona cotton solids.

Great Quilt, Lois! And welcome back...

Had a 'dream night for adventurers' at the animal sanctuary, complete with dinner, night-time guided tours, sleeping under the stars and early morning visit... Of course we're here for the day today as well - was fab...

Lois I love your quilt, doesn't the black make the colours pop.

Rosemary, that quilt is amazing!!! What is the size of it? WOW it will be a winner.

It comes in at 11.5", unfortunately not quite square. The individual pieces are 1/8" x 1/2" finished.

Luann, enjoy your new baby.

Lois, great looking quilt there.

Sybil - stop mucking about and behave yourself (well, not badly!) or we might have to have 'Words'.

Hi Lois, your quilt is so snappy! I love all the colors. The little pink inner border is just the perfect touch. I'm with Nancy on the green border. Love that black outside border! And, how was the wedding? We'd love to some pictures. I bet everyone loved your gifts.
Wendy thanks for giving Sybil the kick in the pants. She needed to hear it from someone other than me. She just tunes me out.

Love your quilt, Lois! It looks like the narrow border could be left unquilted based on the density of the rest of the quilting. I'd probably quilt it anyway, but I think you could get away with leaving it. If you quilt it, I'd probably go with something curvy to contrast with all of the straight lines in the piecing. I'd look at egg and dart or swirls.

The Kona snow I used in one of my quilts constituted more than 50% of the top. I kept my quilting rather open so it wouldn't get stiff and by the second washing it was cuddly as could be.
Yes, there's a computer on it. I need to have it pay for itself and this was the only way I am willing to quilt for others. I love free motion enough to turn down anyone wanting me to do it for them. I want to keep that 'fun' for my quilts.
