Hi Renata,

I've finished my desert landscape wall hanging, thought you'd like to see. Quilt measures 18 3/4 by 47 1/2 inches. Machine pieced quilted.

Renata,

Karen Eckmeier's book along with her TQS episode gives me the confidence to dive in! However I like the tile background of Gloria Loughman's landscape plus the simplicity of Karen Eckmeier's. (Yikes decisions, decisions)!

Barb :D

I wonder... perhaps we can use Karen Eckmeier's technique for the houses and Gloria's for the sky... :D
Sounds good to me!! I'll investigate Gloria's sky!

I have been thinking of this workshop lately, thinking of using it in one of my quilts for 2015, and wondering if there is an appropriate Go! die that would work well for the tiles she uses. If one could cut a bunch of those at one time, it would really help the process.

Barb,
thanks for your nice comment. That landscape quilt is tiny and simple because it is what I made in the workshop I attended with Gloria Loughman (a delightful teacher, by the way) a couple of years ago in Philadelphia. I have all three of her books because I love browsing through them--colors and composition are inspiring to me. I think her technique is worth learning because there is so much you can do with the backgrounds she creates and the technique is not difficult to execute. Now that Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 is back on the market, I'm looking forward to playing with making tiles as she does again. Funny, I've been thinking about picking up Karen Eckmeier's book! :D

Hi Renata,

Haven't seen your landscape quilt until recently I really like it! I'm considering a landscape wall hanging over a bed instead of hanging a picture. I've purchased Karen Eckmeier's Accidental Landscapes book, now I'm wondering if I should purchase one of Gloria Loughman's books too!

Thanks for posting!
