Just got around to finishing my face have to add a few more things. Loved it !! I made a personal goal of using just one fabric for the face details, everything IS the same fabric except for the nose and lips.

Last week I had two of our grandchildren here one day because schools were closed due to a cyberattack. I told them that they were going to make Christmas presents for their mom and dad. They chose all of the fabric, drew all the shapes, cut the easy shapes, and placed them on their background. I cut some trickier shapes, did the ironing, and showed them how I would sandwich them and quilt. They were both so proud and excited that they made a secret gift. The next day, I cleaned up the big mess and did the quilting. Ryland is 8 and Georgia is 9. The quilts are smaller, 8 x 10.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll give the zig-zag a try.

sbell2547, I use a tiny zig zag stitch. It it 1.0 in length and 1.0 in width. Match the color of the applique or use clear monopoly. On this white background I fused a white pellon
stabilizer on it because I did not want thread tail to show thru the white. Usually I use light weight tear away stabilizer. I have used it on some really tiny pieces on different
art quilts and it works well for me. Sharon Schamber and Caryl Fallert Bryer Gentry use it very successfully on their show quilt appliques. I use a 80 topstitch needle. HelenW

Helen W could you also add my face posted Nov 30 to the Graduating Class 2020? It's hard to tell, but I don't think I see it. Thank you

Hi Alex here is my attempt at the Faces. I’m from Scotland & had to put a nod to Scotland there. Still might add other thing. Loved the project and there are some super ones in there . Best Wishes Grace

Hello! I'm late to starting my face quilt as I really struggled with constructing the face. So, I decided to make a tribute to our 4 Great Danes instead. It's not finished, and I don't have fusible behind every piece so there are pins in the photo because it's on my design wall. Also, I'm open to all suggestions. I'm not crazy about the grass bottom, and might create a sun or something for the top. Too literal? Thank you!

DocRuth, I have a drawer where projects go when you give up on them. Don't give up on yours. I started a dog tribute a few years back, and wanted to go way out on a limb with
crazy colors, and I am usually pretty conservative. I got so frustrated it went into the drawer and this morning is the first time I pulled it out. A couple ideas might be to put the
names of your 4 great danes in the background on dog type items. A bone, a water dish, a dog house etc. If they have favorite toys that aren't too hard to draw, or google clip art dog items and you will get a ton of ideas. I took a real picture and printed it on June Tailor Photo transfer fabric with my HP printer, then fussy cut around it. HelenW
