Alex demonstrates a great new repositionable fusible product from Quilters Select that is perfect for machine appliqué.  Appli-Stick is available in a roll, in sheets, and as a thin tape.

This very unique webbing was created especially for simplifying the appliqué process. One side of the web has a fusible coating and is applied to your fabric back. The other side has a light sticky coating, making your fabric moveable! Reposition your appliqué pieces as many times as you need. Once positioned, fuse into place and add your favorite decorative stitch! Use the tape-size version for quilt bindings or decorative trims. The convenient printable sheets make complex appliqué patterns a snap!

Louisa Smith loves creating designs, and especially tessellations.  She is fascinated by the work of M.C. Escher, and she demonstrates how to make one of her patterns, called the “Tootsie Toaster,” which is derived from a tessellating curved hexagon.   Her “Tootsie Toaster” pattern is being made available as a free gift to TQS members.  Louisa also loves Dupioni silk, and currently works mostly with the lustrous fabrics.  Louisa, who was a guest on TQS previously (Episode 204), shares a fun new technique she calls “Double Vision,” which came to her while doodling during a car trip.  Louisa uses the “Hugs and Kisses” pattern elements (circles and diamonds) to illustrate her new technique.  She discusses both fused and pieced options. Also during the show, Ricky shares some ideas for basting quilts.

Star Members can watch Show 1705: Louisa Smith's Double Vision when it debuts August 31, 2015.
