Have you been having fun with your Curvalicious ruler? Cheryl Lynch debuted this Convertible Backpack at the AQS show in Syracuse, and her promised pattern has finally arrived. What's a Convertible Backpack? It's a quilted bag that can be worn as a cross body bag, or, with the click of a clip, as a backpack. The Curvalicious ruler is used to create the outside of the bag.
The bag measures 12" wide x 15" high x 3" deep.
Here's what Cheryl has to say:
"The instructions have been tested and are illustrated with lots of photos.
There's a zipper closure across the top of the bag with enough pockets inside to hold a tablet, a cell phone, pens and more. Easy directions for a gusset are included.
I designed this bag for a trip to France. I needed it to hold my ipad, phone, sketchbook, passport and camera. While traveling in the countryside, I loved wearing it as a Backpack. When we got to Paris, I switched it to a Cross Body Bag for security. It was perfect. I always had my hands free."

Using small, ornate materials, Suzan Drummen makes unbelievable kaleidoscopic works of art. You'll want to see how she manipulates her material - sometimes including herself - to create images that look like 3-dimensional textiles.

Deb Tucker is giving away some of her rulers to a few lucky TQS members! You might win one of the following:
Contest ends on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, Midnight PST. ENTER BELOW.
Star Members can watch Deb in Show 1707: Tricks and Tools of the Trade.
In this video, Deb demos the Wing Clipper and gives you tips for creating flying geese blocks.
We asked Deb about her favorite ruler, and which one she would choose, if she could only have one. Here's what she said:
"What a loaded question! Especially for a ruler designer !!!
This is really tough for me to choose and I think I would have to find a way to smuggle at least one additional tool.
The tool that most inspires my design mojo is the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star. But as you know I desperately need a Tucker Trimmer to trim down those blocks to high precision finished pieces.
So we'll go with that. You have to promise not to tell all my other rulers that I choose a favorite."
The Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star ruler is available in the TQS shop, click here to order.

Did you play “conkers” as a child? You’d drill a hole through the center of dried conker - a chestnut. Thread a piece of string through the hole, and your conker is battle ready! Two players then take turns striking the other’s conker, until one of the conkers breaks. The best conkers were the ones we kept from one year to the next. They were very hard and strong. Our driveway was lined with chestnut trees, and my brother and I played many a game.
Squirrels nested in our chestnut trees. They would leap with amazing agility from tree to tree, and they loved to eat the conkers. The grey squirrel in my block is tackling a nut on the ground. Perhaps she is going to store it somewhere safe ready for the coming winter.
Need some help squaring up some of your blocks?
This month, Janae King shows you how.
Indian fabrics have traveled the globe for centuries; desired for their luscious use of color, pattern and sumptuous fibers. From simple bandanas to trims embroidered with beetle wings one can hardly pass by these textiles without giving them a closer look. View the exhibit at the Victoria &Albert Museum from October 3- January 10, 2016.
Can't make it to the show. Let TQS take you on a tour of India without leaving home. Thanks very much to Jim Burt (TQSWizard's Dad) for sharing the amazing photos.
