The learning continues in this TQS 10th Anniversary video. Alex was blown away watching Liuxin Newman, known to the world as The Thimbelady, hand appliqué teeny, tiny dots onto her background fabric. The TQS audience and crew were on the edge of their seats.

Star Members can watch more with Liuxin in Show 310: Needlework at its Finest also featuring Bob Purcell, as he demystifies sewing machine needles, and Ricky Tims, as he warms your heart with a flute piece from his Sacred Age CD.

The set looks a little bit different for Show 2009 with Meg Hawkey and Salley Frey. It was filmed at the Clarke Memorial Museum in Eureka, California, which contains the area's premier collection of far California North Coast regional and cultural history, with significant focus on the 19th Century Victorian era. There were some very interesting items on display during filming, and we don't mean Alex and Ricky!

  • Broderie Perse
  • Couching
  • Curved Piecing
  • Painting

This is a Star Member Project for practicing what you have seen in the shows. However, the Introduction is for Everyone to view.

It is a quilt-as-you-go project and you can complete the entire project, or just a single section. The choice is yours to make.

The first pattern installment begins on May 5. Subsequent pattern installments will roll out every two weeks. In addition to downloading the pattern directions for each section, Ann will be there with video lessons to share tips and tricks for making the quilt.

Meet fiber artist, author, and teacher, Ann Myhre, creator of the fabulous 2017 Zoo Nouveau. Ann, the designer of our multi-technique summer quilt project, has loved art and textiles for as long as she can remember. Ann's eclectic free-form multi-layered style, exemplifies her deep love of color and patterns seen in the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements. She is fearless when it comes to using mixed media in her work to create an overall design based on a central idea.

"I use every available moment I can find to get into my studio to create works of art inspired by the beautiful world we live in. Teaching those techniques to others is where it is at for me. It is a privilege to be with someone inspired to learn something new."
