It has been announced that Walmart will soon be phasing out its fabric/notions section in all of its stores. The fabric section at WalMart has always been a hot topic for quilters. The decision is sure to spark a debate among quilters. For more information call 1-800-walmart.

The other night I popped into chat unannounced. Quickly into the “conversation” we realized we had a winner amongst us. Ellie, her screen name, (Jane Zowacki in real life) won second place in the Northcott challenge. The prize was/is 800-900 fat quarters (every fabric they manufactured last year) and she was anticipating their arrival. Jane stole my heart when she said it was like waiting for Christmas morning and that she might roll in them when they arrive. Very Funny! Anyway, I hounded her to post the quilt in her “my space area” on our site. She complied and now it is yours to see. Oh yes, if you get The Quilter Magazine, it is in this month's issue (March). Kudos Jane, and you were right, your incognito status has been busted. Thanks Northcott for the image, and to see the other winners please visit www.northcott.net. It is pretty impressive work!

We all have several love affairs going when it comes to quilting, from fabric to friends, it seems endless. Recently, I was approached to host a sewing machine survey on my site. The industry wants to know about YOU and aims to please. If you have a few minutes please visit my site www.alexandersonquilts.com and fill out the survey. By the way, if you do, a donation will be made to Susan G Koman, simply for your time!

One: This weekend at Road it came to my attention (thank you) that basic members couldn't post their quilts. Embarassed Shame on us for not catching that! The good news? Now you can. We, along with the world, want to see your work.Laughing Together we will build the world's best online quilt show.

Two: Bugs, bugs, bugs. Bob and Paul have been burning the midnight oil for quite some time getting things all ironed out. It seems that those of us with AOL (as browsers) had a few strikes against us. I don't know the gobbelie gook techie details, but Bob is fairly confident it has all been solved. We apologize for any frustration, but at least the code has been cracked. Thanks Bob!

For the past three years, I've been presenting unique quilting seminars around the country. Some of you have been to them. If you have, please add your comments to this blog for others to read. Because they are so unique, they are hard to describe. At these events you don't sew - you sit and listen. Hard to do? Not at all - not the way we present them. The information covered is equivalent to about two weeks of sit and sew classes.

However, we've increased the excitement for 2007 by launching the new Ricky Tims SUPER Quilt Seminars which will be held in major theaters and centers in four cities across the United States. Joining me on stage will be Alex Anderson and Libby Lehman. Each of us will share all our best secrets and most desired classes. You can read all about it - and download registration forms - at www.rickytims.com - see Seminars (there is a direct link to my site at the top of this page). It's the kind of an event to plan with your best quilting friends and make a weekend away. As these seminars are few and far between, we don't want you to be left out. The saddest emails I get are from quilters who heard about it after the fact - so dont miss it if you can at all help it. We would all love to see you there. Our target audience comes from about 3-5 hour drive from the seminar, but some folks fly in and make it a real quilting get-a-way.

We are so confident that you will find the Ricky Tims SUPER Quilt Seminars to be the worth your time and money, that, if you attend all the sessions and don't agree, we'll refund your entire registration fee! Here are the dates for 2007 - San Diego is coming in two months, so register soon for the small group discount.

Both Ricky and I on the road again spreading the good word of quilting! Ricky is in Florida and I am in southern California. When you think about it, it is pretty amazing how many quilters grace the face of our earth! Last night I presented a show and tell of my quilts and today a lecture regarding fabric, a sort of "everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask."

You might have noticed that there are several chats scheduled. Ricky and I will be available for future chats (we want to get to know you!) but in the mean time we encourage you to take advantage of these chat rooms. We have provided different time frames, so you can meet up with others. Please DO take advantage of this fun mode of communication. In addition to making new friends, you will find that your typing skills will improve!

When you go to Watch a Show (which features our trailer right now) you will be prompted with a, "Where Do You Want To Watch?" You have three choices of ENVIRONMENTS. in each environment there is a remote control. Click on the bottom left 'wing'. It will open a drawer. Click on the tiny photos to see what happens. You can customize the Environment to your liking. The remote control will move if you click and drag on the purple area. It will disappear in a few seconds once the movie starts so you won't see it at all. When it is invisible - just touch your mouse and it will reappear like magic! The wing on the right is a secret - for now!

What about guests on the show? Who will be on? We'll we would tell you if we could, but you can rest assured we're bringing out the best - familiar favorites as well as new faces. As soon as things are set, we'll let you know. There is a schedule of episodes (by date only) posted under Watch a Show.

Just ask JOHN!!! Alex has been a blast to work with. We have the same vision and the same goals for sharing our passion for quilting with you! I know that seeing someone on TV can give a 'polished' and 'produced' image, but Alex is really just as charming in real life as she is on TV. - Maybe even more so!

Congratulations to ALL OF YOU! We topped 4000 members today - that's 4000 in 20 days! Whooo Hoo! So, here's the deal. POST YOUR PROFILES! The success of this site is user posted content. Your quilts and your profiles are what will make this site rich and fun. So, I need two commitements from you - easy to do - and costs you only a few minues of your time. Post your profile, including quilts, by going to Update My Profile on the Menu Bar. Then, email your friends and tell them about The Quilt Show. Can we reach 10,000 members by the time the first show 'airs'. I think so! There are 21 million quilters in the US with high speed - obviously that does NOT included quilters from foreign countries.

I'm NOT Free - but I am Cheap - AND easy!! This is a true story of Beauty and the Beast!

See you Online! Ricky
