We have recieved several inquiries regarding how to be a guest on The Quilt Show. We are looking for FRESH, NEW and ORIGINAL ideas, concepts we haven't seen before (both contemporary and traditional). Your proposal must include a bio (telling us who you are and where you live), what you plan to present (the "how to" info) and of course photos. We LOVE photos! Please send the info to me and I will make sure it gets into the hands of our producers for consideration. Proposals will not be returned but rest assured will be held in strict confidence. Don't be shy, strut your stuff!

FIND A SHOP FIND A TEACHER

ADDITIONAL PROFILES WILL HELP MEMBERS FIND TEACHERS/SHOPS

We have a two new resources available to Star Members. If you own or manage a quilt shop you can post your shop profile at no extra cost. The same is true for teachers.

If you are a Star Member, Log on and go to Update My Profile. Then select Professional Teacher or Quilt Shop Owner/Manager to enter all the information requested and upload a photo of you or your shop. This information goes to our database and now, when members select Find a Teacher or Find a Shop (locasted under SEARCH in the menu bar), they will be able to find you.

Shops have the added bounus of having a Mapquest link and members can print driving directions right from our site. Each shop can have only one listing and it should be associated with the shop owner or manager's profile page.

All of this content is member driven so if you are a teacher - local, regional, national, or international, or if you own or manage a shop anywhere in the world, we need you to put in your information in order for the World Quilt Community to find you.

If you would like to see how it looks -go to SEARCH in the menu bar, then do a search for screen name RickyTims (no spaces) and look under Additional Listings for this Member. You can also see this example if you choose Find a Teacher and search for teachers in Colorado or Find a Shop and search for shops in Colorado.

We are VERY excited that these features are now available and ask that you take time to participate in creating the world's largest database for finding quilt shops and teachers.

Today in the US is Super Bowl Sunday. Many of our quilt shops take advantage of this day by opening and having sales, parties, sewing sessions, etc. We have one member who actually bought his Bernina on Super Bowl Sunday several years back and hasn't stopped quilting since. Who will win the big game? Do you care? Will you shop today at a quilt shop? Are you glued to the TV?

Often I refer to quilting as “a preferred sport”, after all we often gather as if the super bowl was around the corner (wait, maybe it is? - like TODAY!). Today on Oahu, John and I saw what could be the next level of extreme, when the word is Sports. Winds were wicked and the surf was up! Fifty a mile winds kept many indoors, but not these brave folks. The waves were 16 feet high (although they looked much higher to me) and the winds were blowing off shore. It looked like someone dumped dry ice into the ocean. One camera person said these conditions only occurred about three times a year. What we shortly realized was that we were watching the pros have at it. Both surfers and windsurfers were taking advantage of the situation. In fact, as we surveyed the situation, many camera people were there taking “movie – b roll”. WOW! It was fun and exhilarating to watch, but I think I prefer quilting as my sport of choice.

It is Sunday - and in the US we have a Sunday morning TV show that always uses SUN as the theme for the different segments. This is my current "in progress" quilt. It is currently on hold - i can't imagine why! LOL. It is in my series of Rhapsody quilts. The central large sunflower and leaves are all pieced, the smaller sunflowers in the upper left are appliqued. I'm planning embellishments for the veins in the large leaves. I keep calling it Sunflower Rhapsody, but I'm certainly open to other names.

I know you my not be familiar with my Rhapsody quilts, but i've got a new book coming out soon that will give you all the nitty gritty of it. C&T (visit them on the left) will be publishing my new book on the subject and it will be out in a few months. I just thought you might like a sneak peek! - R
