It seems flooding has been in the news quite a bit lately. The UK had tremendous flooding and now our upper mid-west. We don't know at this point if there is anything we can do, but certainly we would like to know if any of you have been affected or if your quilting friends have been. Being such a small organization and not having staff to do what the Red Cross or Salvation Army or other groups can do, we simply ask that you tell us your stories and we hope that our community will find a way to help. So - we're watching and praying for those who have experienced any loss this summer and most recently in the mid-west.

Edited - PS. I was reminded by a member of the recent floods in Texas, Oklahoma, and neighboring states. How could I fail to mention that as my HOME TOWN was seriously flooded this summber too. Shame on me.-Ricky

How does it feel to be a year older today?

As reported earlier this week, high school photograps of both Alex and Ricky are circulating the globe in a new edgy quilting magazine called Quilter's Home . Since Lilo (TQSWizard) has so bravely posted her high school pic, and many of you can not locate the images from the magazine, I have posted them here for your amusement. How about being brave enough to post your high school photo in YOUR profile? What's next, our baby photos?

Oh yeah, I am the one on the right!

Don't you just "love it" when a person says, "look what I got! - for practically nothing?" A twang of jealousy rushes through your body - (oh come on, we have all been there. LOL )- Well, LOOK WHAT I FOUND - I even got it half off, for $1.00 - they just don't make them like they used to. Time to fess up - what cool thing have you found and purchased that made your quilter buddies green with envy? (BTW: Off to the book store - I will let you know what I decide on - thanks for all the titles).

While reading through the Forum yesterday we saw a number of members mention the magazine Quilter's Home.  We went out and bought a copy of the Sept/Oct 2007 issue and what did we find but an article with actual High School Senior photos of some of the quilting world's notable artists including---you guessed it---our own Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims.  The photos are great fun, but we surmize that hairspray sales have taken a serious hit since some of these individuals graduated.

Although I am home for a few days - my mind is on the road. This weekend I will be in upstate NY (sort of) visiting my Bernina Family and friends (please visit www.alexandersonquilts.com for agenda). This is a LLOOOONNNGGG trip across country - my chance to read. I LOVED My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult - in fact I love all her books. So that in mind, any suggestions?

The Omaha Quilt Guild has an amazing number of organized photos on their site that were taken at the Super Quilt Seminar. There were so many thumbnails in the Quilts Category that I had to scroll right to see the full image. - If you'd like to get a glimpse into the event, this is by far the best way to do it. Way to go, Omaha Quilters Guild - this looks terrific. - Click Here.

The Ricky Tims Super Quilt Seminar in Omaha was described as a "Wow!" Alex, Libby, Bob the Thread Guy and myself, all enjoyed a tremdous number of positive comments. Thank you Omaha Quilters Guild and everyone who came from far and wide to spend your weekend with us! If you attended, maybe joined The Quilt Show as a result, or hope to go someday, we'd love for you to post a comment.

On Friday evening, I always do a concert. My shadow, Clara, snapped this photo and I think it speaks for itself. The volunteers stayed to the bitter end and they are pictured in the loading dock after we were packed and ready to leave. It really takes a village to make this happen. The event raised $7,701.00 for the International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

It's time to begin working on your Log Cabins for your very own "Fishing With Pop Pop" quilt.  Click here for Part 2 directions, and start cutting those strips.  Before you know it you will have everything ready to assemble them.  If you have not started this quilt project, don't worry, there is still time to join us in the fun.  Be sure to let us see your progress and creative ideas.
