Our journey continues - only to greet an astonishing wilderness adventure.  Remember to put all this excitement (and most of the colors) into your fishing with Pop Pop quilt.

Finally - I made it here - never mind I was on the wrong plane to Chicago. ALWAYS - right before the seminar everyone is hustling and bustling to get the details just right - I thought it might be fun to see a "before" image. The stage is set, complete with quilts. Some people wonder, "how will I get to see with so many people?" . Check out the screen to the right. It doesn't get better than this! Next seminar will be in my home town, Livermore, CA (Jan 08). From the back side of the venue, you can see Jackson Ave school - where I attended as a child. BTW: That seminar is going to fill - if you are thinking about coming, I suggest you get on board asap.

"On My Walk" by Kitkavitch

As the aspen leaves in Colorado begin to turn their glorious shades of gold we at TQS look back over a wonderful and busy summer. Many of us spent time in our gardens, hiking with dogs, traveling, or vacationing with family and friends. Time passes too quickly but we can capture snippets of these memories. Ricky loves to take photographs, Mary Fisher writes in her journal, and TQS member Kit created this quilt to remind her of morning walks with her dogs. How do you capture special moments in your life?

TQS has a lot of members who are interested in the Dear Jane quilt. Our site sponsor Stitchin’ Heaven has a Dear Jane block of the month program that began in 2004 to fulfill the needs of those who needed a structured set of of instructions to accompany the book "Dear Jane" by Brenda Papadakis. The book does not include instruction, only line drawings of the 225 blocks making it difficult sometimes to figure out how to construct the 4 1/2" blocks.

Stitchin’ Heaven’s 24-month program will provide the fabric as well as the instruction for the 10 blocks each month. The book is required and the Dear Jane software is recommend. SH is planning another program to begin in January 2008 and they are offering TQS members who want to make a Dear Jane quilt a free start fee (a $25 value!). This offer will be good through September 2007 and the program will begin in January, 2008. If interested in the offer, the coupon code TQSDJ2008 needs to be entered during the checkout process. Yes folks, it's another NEW DAY! We have been dropping hints about another great new feature - we'll, here it is! Star Members can create their own Blog right here on The Quilt Show. In the purple Menu Bar you'll see a new link called Member Blogs. This link provides you with the opportunity to start your own blog for ALL TQS members to read. It is also the link to read all the Member Blogs. Star members can also access their blogs under My Profile.

Are you thinking, "Great, now, how can I possibly start a blog? I don't know how!" Not to worry, you'll find all the instructions right there on the page and once you get the hang of it you can blog blog blog as much as you like. And just like the Daily Blog, anyone reading your blog can submit a comment. We urge you to keep your profile up-to-date, but with your own Member Blog you can post photos of works in progress. Maybe you could teach a little lesson complete with illustrations. Share your experience on quilt outing, etc. The sky is the limit. Just remember all content must adhere to the TQS terms of service - in short, play nice and post appropriate images.

As you browse the new feature, notice all the options in the red "My Blogs Navigation" box so you can easily find what you want.

Okay, it gets better. You can choose to have your blog visible to non-members which will automatically create your own RSS feed. No need to understand all about RSS, but your Member Blogs will just help spread the news about TQS across the internet via search engines.

It's a New Day!

Every quilt teaches a lesson.  Sometimes the lesson is not revealed until the quilt is almost completed.  While creating "Rose Window", Cindy learned two valuable lessons. "1). If you are using black fabric, DO NOT use white poly batting. 2). Hand quilting with black thread on black fabric is not only impossible to see while doing it, it's impossible to see within the finished product."

Have you learned from a "mistake" quilt?  How has it helped you become a better quilt designer? Share your thoughts so that others can avoid some of those pitfalls.
