As you saw in the first collection, Joyce Gross collected some amazing quilts. For more on Joyce click here.  This second slideshow highlights some quilts by Mary Kingwell Ireland Butler, Emma Andres, and Florence Peto.  It also showcases some of the early kits, notably Dogwood and Snowflake, where tiny dots were used to show where the quilter should take their stitches.

Watch for Joyce Gross #3 tomorrow afternoon.  Thank you to the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles for sharing this great exhibit.

I mentioned yesterday that Sandra Betzina gave me a gift - well check this out! It is for flatware when you are hosting a pot luck - a little bit of quiltie, friends and food all mixed together - what could be better?! BTW: Sandra says that she has a video coming out soon on how to make this - maybe if we ask nicely????

Every year I anticipate TODAY! Today is just as special to me as any major holiday - (hmmm - you might be wondering  if I have lost my beans) - but NO - TODAY is the day! Every August, I wait for the day that I can SEE and FEEL that autumn is around the corner. I can tell by the way the shadows are cast on the ground and the smell of the air. It is TODAY! Happy dancing for another year to be grateful for and  anxious anticipation for fall. Happy dancing in Livermore CA for TODAY - one of my favorite holidays of the year. Is it the holiday TODAY where you live?

Way back in the day, when I was a stay at home Mom, I used to watch a S.F. based TV show called People are Talking -I LOVED that show. Periodically they had a sewing segment which was taught by Sandra. I found those segments to be very inspiring because I loved to sew. Fast forward, HGTV hires Sandra to host a sewing show on their network. Finally I met Sandra at a Habitat for Humanity build in Knoxville and found her to be incredibly charming and a VERY hard worker. Periodically over the years our paths have crossed, but never for any amount of time. A few days ago we connected and Sandra invited me to lunch - she too is launching a web base TV show that focuses on her expertise, garment sewing. Just how do you get your hand crafted garments to not hang on your body like a sack of potatoes - well Sandra knows! Take a moment to check out her site here. As we left, she handed me a gift and it was a really cool accessory for pot lucks - I will show you that tomorrow!
