Check out this clever hands-free system for taking photos while you are working.  The whole set-up uses a table lamp clamp, a wooden clothes pin, and two file clips.  Clever and simple!

The idea comes from Ann Wood Handmade.  If you are not familiar with her work, check out the magical creations she makes by hand, using vintage or antique garments.  They will have you looking at your old textiles in a whole new way!

Jamie Fingal earned her reputation as a Rebel Quilter because she doesn’t like to follow the rules.  She does like to have fun, though, and imbues her whimsical quilts with positive messages.  Jamie often uses heavy-duty zippers in her work.  She doesn’t bind her quilts.  She uses wool felt for the batting and the backing.  She also gives herself one day every week to just play in her studio and have fun, and create.  Jamie carries a sketchbook with her everywhere and uses her drawings as inspiration for her quilts.  She walks Alex through the process of making a small prayer flag art quilt, then shows Ricky how to build a quilt background using overlapping pre-fused hexagons.  After Jamie’s visit, Gina Perkes offers tips for creating bobbin appliqué on a domestic sewing machine.

Episode 1702 - Rebel with a Cause debuts July 20, 2015.

Lisa Calle needs our help. She is missing a box of quilts that she shipped to Canada, which never made it there. Inside the box were three of her show quilts and one quilt for her book. UPS has opened an investigation. Red Velvet, Playing Hookie, and Hula Hibiscus are among the missing. Please keep an eye out for these quilts.  If you have any information, please contact Lisa at lisahcalle@me.com.

And the inductee is...Mimi Dietrich, founder of the Baltimore Appliqué Society. Her first quilt book, Happy Endings, has sold nearly 250,000 copies.  Since then she has written fifteen more books. On July 16–18, 2015, the Quilter's Hall of Fame in Marion, Indiana, will honor Mimi’s many accomplishments with a weekend of quiltmaking fun.

Here’s what Mimi has to say about her induction into the Quilter's Hall of Fame:

I am thrilled and honored to be the next inductee into the Quilter's Hall of Fame. The best part is that for almost 40 years I have been doing something that I love…quilting! I am truly proud of the books I have written with Martingale, and I have loved traveling around our wonderful country and meeting quilters in my classes. For most of my students it all starts with one little hand-appliqué stitch and grows into a fabulous quilt! If you’ve enjoyed my books or taken a class with me, come join me at the Quilter's Hall of Fame in Marion, Indiana…it’s going to be the trip of a lifetime!
