Molly Hanson over at WeAllSew.com and author of Free Motion Quilting for Beginners, created this fun project from her leftover quilting practice squares. It's a great way to use them, says Molly:
"I tested its size and it will fit a DSLR camera quite nicely, I also tried out my wallet, cell phone, keys, small makeup pouch and mini sketch book/pens and it fit all that! This is a new take on the traditional zipper pouch, and it sure makes a great gift. You only need a few supplies to make it, so let’s get started, and in less than a few hours start to finish you’ll have your very own!
Alex's new book, All Things Quilting, is getting rave reviews. Alex introduces you to the book in the video below. Click the button to learn more and to get your autographed copy.

Carol writes,
"This was a piece commissioned by a couple who have a lovely summer home surrounded by a gorgeous stone wall on Martha's Vineyard, MA. The entire scene was created from many photos I took from the terrace of their home which overlooks Vineyard Sound. The amazing sunset really did occur. We were speechless because we could not believe what we were witnessing that special sunset evening. Simple oohs and ahhs didn't describe it. The colors were unbelievably bold, ranging from neon yellows, brilliant oranges, pinks, purples, dark navy blues, bright cerulean blues and some other hues having no names. At the moment, knowing I was engaged to do a comission, I told my hosts, this is the one and I relied on the photos to re-create the bold emotions we all felt that evening.
"We were looking over the stone wall as we watched the incredible light show on the horizon and, of course, it had to be featured in the pictorial. The entire wall hanging, 62" x 45", was accomplished by machine appliqué with turned-under edges, no fusibles involved, and machine quilted to finished it.
"The imaginary cat was added because the owner had bought three other small pieces of mine which featured a travelling white cat situated in various places around the world and these were hung in a nearby bedroom. Knowing "Rush Hour" would be hanging in another bedroom, I figured the white cat might just stroll down the hallway, hop up on the wall to see the sunset. This bedroom was chosen for "Rush Hour" because it is the only room in the house which didn't have a view of any sunset, but now it does."

When we think of Paducah, we think of Caryl Bryer Fallert. Watch the slideshow, then go to her website and read the stories about the quilts. From quilts about South Africa to her father the watch maker, the background for each quilt is fun and fascinating. The music is from the CD "Sounds of Wood & Steel" played by Laurence Juber and is titled "Liquid Amber". Visit Caryl's site at www.bryerpatch.com.
Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes. With the coming of a major release of Star Wars toys, and with the impending explosion of the galaxy in December at the release of the lastest Star Wars film, we thought we'd join in the fun with this presentation from Sideshow Collectibles at Comic-Con.
It all started with a blank droid...click here to see more.
Sideshow writes,
"The Force is strong with this collective of creative minds from across the galaxy! Starting with a blank prototype of our Deluxe R2-D2 Sixth Scale Figure, Sideshow invited over 90 friends and fans to participate in customizing the iconic droid with a brand new look. Check out a sneak peek at the progress on these one-of-a-kind custom projects below, and follow along on Instagram with the hashtag #R2ME2."
Can you name this block? We couldn't until we played the game and found out.
Sometimes a quilt project just doesn't speak to you anymore. Maybe you are not sure where or how to continue, so it's languishing in the closet, taking up space. No need to worry; we have some ideas that just might be the spark to get you going on those UFOs!

Are your random blocks in need of a home? You could try a few small tabletop or wall-size quilts
that include large areas of neutral space, which is great for straight-line quilting the Jacquie Gering way (Episode 1202).
