This exhibit is a retrospective of Carol's work beginning with her very first quilt (1976) up to her most recent work (2015). The 35 quilts in the show are examples of various periods in her 40-year quilting-art career and include all three of her AQS Best of Show quilts.  The exhibit runs from August 20 - October 31, 2015 at the New England Quilt Museum.

It's that time of year again!  The TQS crew will hit the road later this week and come together in Denver to tape another round of shows. Look for snippets of taping activities on the blog.  There are sure to be some great moments we will share that you don't want to miss.  We have a great lineup familiar faces as well as some new faces scheduled. Look for outstanding work to be featured on the BERNINA as well as an amazing Innova Quilting System artist, and also some very out-of-the-box art that is sure to be a HUGE favorite this next season.

The Fashion and Textile Museum celebrates 140 years of work by the iconic London design house we know as Liberty. The fabrics have always had a very British feel and have been sought after by generations of designers, including Jean Muir, Cacharel, Yves Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood. The exhibit, which opens October 9 and runs through February 28, 2016 will include over 150 items and accessories. Some, dating back as far as the 19th century, are sure to please devoted Liberty fans.

“There was a time when walking down the King’s Road in a Liberty print shirt was as cool as you could get,” said Mark Butterfield, looking down at his blue and white floral shirt with pride. Along with his wife, Cleo, Butterfield owns one of the largest collections of Liberty fabrics in the world. This autumn, the stars of their collection will display as part of Liberty in Fashion, a major exhibition of the London department store’s iconic designs at the Fashion and Textile Museum (excerpt from article by Maev Kennedy of The Guardian).

Imaging suddenly having no home and no possessions. Help those affected by the devastating fires that have struck the Lake County area of California.  Many residents had only moments to evacuate with the clothes on their backs. Fire does not discriminate, it has touched everyone, including several firefighters who lost their homes while trying to save those of other residents. YOU can offer help in many forms such as a donation of a quilt, cothing or money.

Donations of quilts, clothing and other basic needs:

LoveLakeCounty.org offers a wide variety of organizations where you can make a difference.  Click here.

Donations to the American Red Cross:

The only way to donate to the Western Wildfire Relief Fund is by check ("Western Wildfire" relief donations collected also go to Washington, Utah, Oregon and other western states). They ask that people designate Western Wildlife Relief Fund in the check memo field.

Send a check to:

American Red Cross
1663 Market Street
San Francisco, CA 94103

To give to the Firefighters:
Forestry Crabfeed FF Relief Fund

100% of the money collected will be given directly to the firefighters. The Forestry Crabfeed, which was established as a benevolent fund to assist the employees in the Sonoma Lake Napa Unit, is a non-profit 501c3 so your donation is tax deductible, tax payer ID 45-3748304.

To give to children:

Shahzia Sikander studied the art of Indo-Persian painting and has used it as a springboard for her own unique works.  As an artist she is continuously inspired by works created 500 years ago, as well as by the works of other artists. Follow Shahzia as she takes us on a tour of miniature paintings that inspire her at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's new season of The Art Project.

Watch for the gorgeous designs on the carpets and walls in the paintings.

Pat Holly (Episode 608) has embraced working in miniature with equally stunning results in fabric.  The detail on "Imagining India" is a feast for the eyes.  The work was done with a steady hand on her BERNINA, with tweezers, fine thread and luscious silks fabrics! The quilt won Best Wall Quilt at AQS Paducah in 2012.

Have you got your quilt ready?  It's time for the National Quilt Museum's 2016 Quilts for Quilting Campaign.

This campaign is one of the Museum's most important fundraisers.  They had over 500 participants last year, and are hoping you'll donate a quilt to help the Museum achieve its fundraising goals in 2016.

Here's the important info from the Museum:

How it works?  The program is simple and everyone can participate.  To get involved simply donate a full size quilt or miniature quilt to the Museum for fundraising purposes.  The quilt can be a new creation or an antique and it can be any size.  Most donated quilts will be a part of one of our three annual auctions.  In a few cases they are held to be used in later events.  The Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization so all donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Over the last 6 years, the "Quilts for Quilting" campaign has led to critical funding for the Museum.  The dollars raised in this program have helped us expand several programs and expand our promotional efforts.  These proceeds along with other donations have ultimately led to thousands more people experiencing the work of today's quilting community through educational programs, in-facility exhibits, travelling exhibits, and other programs.

In addition to helping the Museum, each campaign donator will receive a free gift.

How to donate your quilt to the "Quilts for Quilting" campaign:
Send quilts to:
            National Quilt Museum
            215 Jefferson Street
            Paducah, KY 42001
Please write "Attn: Quilts for Quilting" on the box.

Please include your name, address, and contact information so that we may send you a receipt and a gift.
There is no limit to the number of quilts you may donate to the campaign.  We welcome multiple donations.  If possible, please donate by April 1, 2016.

Thank you so much for your donation.  The Museum relies heavily on the generosity of the quilting community for funding and we need everyone passionate about quilting involved.  2016 is the Museum's 25th Anniversary and we would love to ring in this wonderful milestone with the most successful auction ever!

If you have any questions about this program please contact Lori Robbins or Amanda Ball at 270-442-8856.
