Members of the Quilt Alliance were given a private tour of quilts at the American Folk Art Museum as part of "Quilters Take Manhattan 2015." This was a one-of-a-kind experience, and not to be missed. Most of the quilts had a political message, as quilts were one way women were allowed to express their patriotic and political preferences.
The lighting was kept dim as a means of protecting the quilts. We have made some adjustments to the images to allow for better viewing.
Thank you to the American Folk Art Museum and the Alliance for American Quilts for making this possible.

Are your handles showing a little too much wear? It's a shame to discard the bag if the rest of the body is still in good shape. Make a new set of handles using a paper-like product that, after a nice soak in a hot bath, feels, looks and wears like leather. kraft·tex™ (from C&T) is supple, yet strong enough to use for projects that get tough wear. Use it to bring an exciting new texture to your craft and sewing projects, mixed-media arts, and book making. Color may vary slightly between rolls.
• Play with it! Sew it, stamp it, draw on it, fold it, inkjet print it
• Durable enough for totes, belts, wallets, book covers, luggage tags, and more
• The fiber-based texture softens and crinkles with handling and washing
Domestic Strata shares a great tutorial on how to make your own set of purse/tote handles.

Conversations about Frixion pens as a marking tool are all around the water cooler. The magic marking tool seems to be the answer to everyone's problems, but, like any marking tool, one needs to educate oneself. Love it or hate it? Jenny K. Lyon went to the source to find out the scoop. See what the folks at Pilot say about the pen, which, by the way, was not designed for fabric marking.
Now that you have the Frixion Pen rules,
what about basting? Not sure of the best way to baste your quilt?
