Our wonderful members are always full of knowledge they want to share.  Thank goodness.  In Episode 607 with Rami Kim, Alex wanted to know the difference between "sharks teeth" and "prairie points."

Well, victoriaedm, decided to look it up.  She read The Art of Manipulating Fabric, by Colette Wolfe and it classified sharks teeth as a slashed pleat rather than individual pieces of folded fabric. The continuous method, where you cut and fold the pleats as one, would be sharks teeth.

In Episode 607, Ricky demonstrates three ways to make prairie points, using individual pieces of folded fabric.

Note: Many of you have gift certificates for free past shows.  Check your My Account area>My Gift Certificates.  You may want to use one for this show if it is not in your library.

We've all had wonderful teachers and mentors in our lives.  There is always some creative character out there who has given us inspiration.  Tell us who inspired you in your life.  Maybe not just creatively, but in some other aspect as well.  TQS ran into Maggie Winfield in Houston.  Maggie is an artist who will inspire you just by the look on her face.  What a great smile and look at those shoes!

Last week we asked, "What's your other hobby?"  To say that TQS is a creative group is a bit of a understatement.  Outside of quilting, here's what else you like to do in your spare time. The fun part is trying to guess which TQS member does what.  To see all the answers, check out the comments section here.3384_mrs_bear_s_world_knitting.jpg

3346_rim00011.jpgWe all know that you guys are quilters.  After all, that's probably why you are reading this right now. But what else do you like to do?  It seems that most quilters have more than one hobby, whether it is cooking, gardening, or knitting, they always have something else going on and it usually involves creativity.

For example, mkdquilts, had a photograph, not a quilt, at the Houston International Quilt Festival as part of the "Eye of the Quilter" exhibit.

The holiday season is upon us and selecting gifts is one of our top priorities.  What shall I get them?  Will they like it? Should I make them something?

TQS wants to know, are you a maker or a buyer?  Do you rush out to your local mall for a beautiful cashmere sweater, or do you rush to the craft mart and purchase yarn to make a beautiful sweater?

Submit a comment and let us know.

(If you'd like to purchase this sweater from whitehillrose, click here...it's homemade.)

Now that you have all watched Episode 712: The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative with Ami Simms, we know that you are all raring to go when it comes to making or purchasing a Priority Quilt to support the AAQI. TQS wants to see what you are up to.  So, we've created a Show & Tell area for you to show us any Priority Quilts that you might have made, are going to make, or have purchased.  Click here to submit your Priorities!

P.S.  Don't forget, this month's December Online Quilt Auction is still going strong until December 10th.  Who will get bragging rights, Ricky, Alex, or Ami?  Click here to head over to the auction.

cardsAfter seeing PNPQuiltGuilder's Chanukah card, we got to wondering how many of you make homemade cards to send to your friends over the holidays.  Do you make quilted postcards?  Embroider cards? Stamp cards? Crochet cards? Submit a comment and share your ideas.

Here are some lovely cards from snowladyns in Canada.  She embroidered these cards for her friends on her home machine.

Some of us only know about quilting.  We aren't so good at housekeeping and basting a turkey is not quite the same as basting a quilt.  Thankfully, the people at Butterball have all kinds of videos to help those of us who are "cooking and baking" challenged.  Not sure how long to thaw your turkey?  How about stuff it?  Or roast it?  This is the site for you.  And once you get that turkey in the oven, you can get right back to quilting.

As promised here are more award-winning quilts from the International Quilt Festival in Houston. You'll see the "Future of Quilting" Award winner along with winning quilts from our own TQS Members. Come on, let's get back to the show. How can you resist that face?
