Designing for the Quilting Process:
Using graph paper and a pencil, Sharon walks you through the steps of designing a whole cloth quilt. She creates the design on 1/8th of a square and then uses a mirror to see how it will look once it is replicated. Sharon introduces many motifs including circles, feathers, radiating lines, and gridwork. She then shows you how to mark your quilt top.

"Wow-has anyone else seen this video? I just watched Sharon Schamber design a whole cloth quilt. I was enthralled and will probably watch this over and over." -  ipquilter

Here's a great big thank you from the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.    With your help, they will not have to close their doors!

A message from the Museum:

Dear Friends:

Our hearts are overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness the Museum has experienced in the last two weeks from the community and from all of you!

We are incredibly happy and proud to announce that we've exceeded our goal of $80,000! As of today the Museum has raised $125,000!!!! We will not be closing our doors! Three quarters of this amount has been received and one quarter is outstanding pledges that we should receive soon. This amount also includes a significant increase in membership revenue of $7,500 and our membership has grown from 578 to 658!

We will now begin the challenging job of "right-sizing" the budget and dropping it from $700,000 a year to somewhere between $650,000 to $600,000. We need to balance what we spend with what we can raise. Please join us on Sunday, June 2 from 1pm-4pm for a walkthrough and opening reception of  - where we will THANK all our supporters who gave to this special two-week appeal.

I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events or on June 2 at the Musuem.

 or call 971-0323 x14.

Cheers,

Christine

Found this dress, originally from The Gap, for sale on Ebay in the Tippy Toe Treasures store, which led us to wonder, where else do you find quilt patterns in daily life?  Would you ever take a quilt and make something else out of it?  What if it was an unfinished top only?

How cute is this new rotary cutter from our friends at Olfa?  Doesn't it just scream Springtime? It works for Lefties (Alex) and Righties (Ricky).

Are you a fan of Project Runway? Then you'll want to watch Episode 508: Paula at the American Folk Art Museum.  At the end of the episode, featuring Paula's exhibit at the American Folk Art Museum, she takes TQS on a tour of the NY Garment District, including a trip to Mood Fabrics.  It's a tour that includes all the fabric and embellishments any quilter would love.

Sarah Vedeler, designer of this TQS BOM, has some wonderful news to share.

"Check this out... Pat Alderman and Renee Vick (mother and daughter) made their own Sedona Star quilt - and it has won first in category (mixed collaborative), Best Machine Pieced, Best Machine Appliqué and Best of Show at the FKQG in Sarasota FL. I'm totally impressed!"

Congratulations to Pat and Renee, what a team! And Sarah, what a great design!
