TQS Articles

Take a look at the purple bar and click on "Articles".  Because of the interest in the wonderful finished quilt, we have combined The Three Sisters blogs into one quick summary.  You can scroll down and see links to all the videos Ricky made when they were creating the new quilt in La Veta.  We hope this makes it easier to find.

Also, coming up in the Articles section will be visits with our artists to see what is new in their lives and their quilting directions.

But for now, enjoy the whole journey with The Three Sisters.

Remember to watch over the gallery like a mother watches over her children.  Also check out "Southwest Sunrise" in DianeDoodles profile.  It uses Altered Photo techniques which is the subject of our current show #211.

Our Gallery is nearing 9000 quilts.  It is wonderful to see the wide variety of work.  This quilt was inspired by whom?  And tell us who inspired the quilt you are working on now.

You might have noticed that web guru Bob has been into his tricks again. By many of your names you see a series of stars (up to four in many cases). Each star has significance which we would like to share with you.

1. Gold Star to the far left with a "C" - this indicates you were a charter member and joined before April 1 of 2007. Basically it indicates you had faith in our venture - THANK YOU.

2. TQS Star with "1" - This indicates you have purchased Series 1 (13 episodes) which have all aired. You will have the ability to watch these shows over and over again until the end of 2008. In addition this star "unlocks" many portions of the website, such as Alex's class room, Ricky's rhapsody and search functions. These features (and more) will also be yours to enjoy through out next year. This star is only available to be purchased until then end of this year - then it will be retired.

3. TQS Star with "2" - This indicates you are on board to start watching Series 2 (13 shows) which will start this January - Our first Show is with Judith Montano.

4. TQS Star with "3" - This indicates you are on board with Series 3 (again 13 shows) which will start airing this summer after series 2.

We are very excited that next year we will be rolling out a new show about every other week. We have ten "in the can" and are ready to rock and roll! We also have some cool surprises up our sleeves - just as we did this year. Now is the time to jump on board if you want the Series 1 star - because as stated above, after the end of the year it will never be available again - kind of like collecting show pins.

Web Guru Bob has done it again. If you want to see all the Video blogs check out the new filter under the words "The Daily Blog"

"ONLY BLOGS WITH VIDEO"

If you check this box you can get to the Video blogs real fast. Put "Ricky" in the Category box and then check "Only Video Blogs" and see what you get.

627_filters.jpg Here is a way to use the blog filters to find what you want. There are two drop down boxes that help you locate past blogs.

Select how far back you want to see. You can choose from Today to The past 12 months.

Then select a category in the second box.

Let's give it a try. First select "View the Last 6 months". Then in the second box choose "Ricky". After it filters through the blogs you will see all of Ricky's Japan Series right near the top of the page.

Now choose "Alex" in the second box. After it sorts, you will see the Houston Series right near the top of the page.

Now choose "Breaking News" and scroll down to August 2, 2007. There you will see the Production files from the last taping.

It's fun and useful. Give it a try.

Many of you have asked for Gift Subscriptions to give to your friends and loved ones. Well, here it is. These Subcriptions can be purchased by both members and non-members alike.

To purchase a Gift Subscription, click here.

For instance:

John (a non-member) wants to give his quilting wife Alex (no pun intended) a Subscription to the Quilt Show. He simply selects a Single or Double Series Gift Subscription and purchases it online by going through the checkout process. A link to print the coupon online is sent to his email address. John does not have to be a member himself, which is good, because he doesn't even know what a bobbin is (just like the web guy - smile). Alex, who knows all about bobbins and more, uses the coupon by following it's instructions and applies the Coupon Value when prompted to enter the coupon number. After that, she is a Star Member.

OR

Jane (a member) wants to buy her neighbor a subscription for her birthday. She simply logs into the website, selects a Subscription, goes through the checkout process and prints the coupon just like above. Then she surprises her friend.

OR

Members can purchase to extend their own membership.

Because this is a new system we are BETA TESTING for the next few days, if you experience any issues at all, please let us know of the problem through our "Contact" page we will be happy to take care of everything immediately.

It's a New Day and we hope you will enjoy this new feature.

Yes folks, it's another NEW DAY! We have been dropping hints about another great new feature - we'll, here it is! Star Members can create their own Blog right here on The Quilt Show. In the purple Menu Bar you'll see a new link called Member Blogs. This link provides you with the opportunity to start your own blog for ALL TQS members to read. It is also the link to read all the Member Blogs. Star members can also access their blogs under My Profile.

Are you thinking, "Great, now, how can I possibly start a blog? I don't know how!" Not to worry, you'll find all the instructions right there on the page and once you get the hang of it you can blog blog blog as much as you like. And just like the Daily Blog, anyone reading your blog can submit a comment. We urge you to keep your profile up-to-date, but with your own Member Blog you can post photos of works in progress. Maybe you could teach a little lesson complete with illustrations. Share your experience on quilt outing, etc. The sky is the limit. Just remember all content must adhere to the TQS terms of service - in short, play nice and post appropriate images.

As you browse the new feature, notice all the options in the red "My Blogs Navigation" box so you can easily find what you want.

Okay, it gets better. You can choose to have your blog visible to non-members which will automatically create your own RSS feed. No need to understand all about RSS, but your Member Blogs will just help spread the news about TQS across the internet via search engines.

It's a New Day!

That's right all you World Quilt Community members. If you arrived here you most likely did by logging on in the new landing page. The new page offers a tour of the site for non-members - letting them take a better peek at what is inside - but Basic Members and even Star Members will benefit by just going through the four pages on the tour. For those of you who already know all the great things feature at The Quilt Show, this tour will give you the opportunity to tell your friends and encourage them to take a peek as well.

Thanks Web Guru Bob for helping launch this much needed aspect to those who find their way to The Quilt Show, but have no idea what to expect. Try the tour - www.thequiltshow.com

456_503481.gifNew Blog Filter:

This pulll down window allows YOU to view how many days of blogs you see at a time. Every time you change the selection, it is also saved as a preference for each time you login. You don't have to reset it every time you login because it saves a cookie (yumm) on your computer.

This will be especially helpful for those with dial-up who find it frustrating to wait for many images to load. You can set it to view 2 Days Blogs and the page will load much faster. Then, change it at any time.

Of course, all blogs not shown are available in the Archives at the bottom of the blog page.

456_412551.gif New Blog Category:

We have put all the Blogs relating to "Website Features" into it's own category. At a glance, you can view blogs about our website features for the past few days or even over the past 12 months.

This works well with the feature above, but is not saved as a preference nor does it set a cookie, lest you miss all the other good stuff by accident (smile).

Enjoy these Small but Powerful new features.
