We launch Series 1500 with a visit to the Texas studio of artist, instructor, and author Jane Dunnewold, well known for the one-of-a-kind fabrics she creates with printing, dyeing, resist, and other manipulations. In this episode, Jane discusses the meaning of surface design, and shows how she transfers a black-and-white copyright-free image to prepared for dye (PFD) silk, which she then embellishes with watercolor pencils and needle felting. You'll love our tour of her wet/dry studios, a delightful blend of old and new. Finally, Jane, who uses a hula hoop as a preventative for back problems, coaxes Alex and Ricky to give this childhood classic a try it. An informative - and fun - start to a new season!

Episode 1501: Discover Sensational Surface Design debuts July 7, 2014.

Gina was inspired by Libby's quilt, Drift. Follow along as she shares with you some of the techniques she used to create her piece, Wishes for Libby.  She shows off some of the "awesome" stitches she discovered on her BERNINA and discusses her cutwork attachment which works with her embroidery machine.  Gina also demonstrates how to applique with a highly textured fabric using a water-soluable stabilizer.  Using her Gammill, she demos a raw-edge longarm applique technique to emulate some of Libby's threadplay work.

Star members can watch Gina in Episode 308: Artistry on a Long arm and Episode 1005: "Twofer" the Money: Terrific Time Saving Techniques with Gina and Pat Yamin.

July 1 will start a Summer Class that will yield an amazing quilt. It's just 30"x30". You can do this as a summer project and have it ready for your walls or as a holiday gift.

"Happiness" is coming your way with award-winning quilter, Jacqueline de Jonge. Jacqueline's quilts scream with color and precision. With her quilt titled "Happiness" you will learn circles, corners, sashing, mitered corners, spikes and curves. Use your stash to create an explosion of color, or create a neutral quilt with personality. The instruction is great and the result is a quilt you will be proud of.

There is a pattern that comes with pre-printed foundation paper to make this an easy journey. The price will be slashed to just $19.95 so everyone can play.
