Search Classrooms

Looking for a class, but can't remember who taught it? Go to Learn--Search Classrooms. You can click on the column titles to sort by CLASSROOM or ARTIST or TECHNIQUE. But even better, use the search box. Search for Lyric Kinard's Pieced Scarf Class by typing "scarf." If you click the blue title in the Classroom column on the far left, you will go to her classroom (but you must be logged in). Give it a try.

As part of the "500 Traditional Quilts" Exhibit in Houston (you can buy a book of all the quilts at the Texas Quilt Museum) this beautiful silk quilt by German quilter Brigette Morgenroth was on display. The shine of the silk enhanced the already dynamic design.

If you have fast internet,  you can watch the shows in "HD". That means "High Definition" and you need good internet to make it happen. When you watch in HD format, the shows are TV quality. You can put it on "full screen" or on your big screen and get a beautiful picture. We started making HD shows with show 1401. So any show after that is HD (close captioning started with show 1407).

YOU MUST TURN HD ON! The shows default to regular definition because of all the rural and satellite customers. So to get HD, click on the HD icon in the lower right of the player. It will turn blue and start projecting in a higher resolution. Give it a try on the current show. Remember, you can also let the show buffer in for about 10 minutes and then even slower internet may work.

While On the Road near Mica, Texas, we caught up with artist, author, and educator Leslie T. Jenison, who shares her playful, "serendipitous" screen-printing techniques.   She transforms natural-fiber fabrics and paper by adding unusual materials such as plastic Fiesta flags, product packaging, common household items, and hardware store finds. She also describes her experience as co-curator of the juried Dinner at Eight exhibits and companion catalogs with California artist Jamie Fingal.

Episode 1510: Screen Printing Seredipity debuts Monday, November 10, 2014.

We use the common sharing symbols in the upper right of every article/blog. Try to send a blog you like to a friend. Send the Quilting Industry survey to a friend. It's not hard. Then look for the little thumbs up symbol on every blog/article. When you don't have time to comment, you can just click the thumb to show us you liked this post.

Did You Know...

One of the Internet standards is that you can click on the Site Logo in the upper left and go back to the Home page from any page you are on. Go to Watch Shows>ShowList and then click on the Logo. You will be back on the Home page again.  Cool.

Zoom Quilts

Zoom Quilts are easier to find. Go to SEE QUILTS>ZOOM QUILTS to see the latest and all the past Zoom Quilts. Then see how the new site handles them. Move around and test how it works. I like it, but it is different. Also, this means that your pictures you send can be a higher resolution now. That way we see your personal quilts even closer.
