A reoccuring question that seems to be surfacing is, what about a block, fabric (or other quiltie related) swap within this site? That would be great and the forum would provide the perfect platform for this. However, you must understand that it will NOT be moderated by administration. May we suggest a chat is organized at a certain time and then you can decide on the "rules".

182_577480.jpgYou can see we are settling in nicely together. Never mind that Justin has a spread ALL TO HIMSELF!

But neither Ricky or I are complaining because while we are up stairs working away (if that is what you call it) Justin is down stairs getting the set all shaped up. On Sat and Sun Rick, the set guy builder, and Justin were/are sawing their hearts out to prepare ceiling baffles to be covered with Hobbs batting and P&B solids. What is a baffle you ask? it is a sound absorber for the room so it doesn't echo while we tape. Like the colors? I am giving you a set "hint".

HHMMM............ While the guys are working on the set,.....I wonder how long before Ricky will notice that slowly but surely my office area is growing?

179_523815.jpg Right at this moment I am sitting at Ricky's left hand side working on voice overs. A voice over are the words you hear when a show airs a field piece, a sort of narration to the story line. When "piecing" these segments together, everything has to be synched to fit with perfect timing. Thank goodness Ricky has his new control room (he called me from my office to join him).

Along with all the technical stuff, the set is coming into the studio piece by piece, literally. Here is Ricky fitting our Quilt Show Demo table into one unit. Come to think of it, this whole endevor is like making a quilt. Many pieces joined as one, making a comfortable place to be in.

I'll keep you updated as much as I can................

I love it here at Tims Art Quilt Studio and Gallery and was very excited knowing where my home would be for the next few weeks. Ok, my needs are simple, but when I saw Ricky's work space the green eyed monster kicked in. He has all sorts of bells and whistles to play with at his new work station / control room / editing suite.178_980496.jpg

Being resourceful in nature, I decided to get to work and secure MY space. I innocently asked Ricky to help me move a table into the corner of the room to put my laptop on. Quickly while all backs were turned, carpet was installed, invisible walls were built and my work area was defined. "Justin, you want receipts? Just check the in box."

I need to get to work before I get fired.

Last night I flew into La Veta, CO and was welcomed warmly by Ricky and Justin . The countdown is here for the first set of show tapings. To say we are excited is the understatement! Upon arrival, what did we do? We went SHOPPING! Prior to my arrival, Justin had picked out and purchased furniture for the set. What he choose is very unusual, colorful and perfect for our vision. Now it was time to purchase the "fun stuff". Off we went to a HUGE furniture / home dec store. I have never seen anythig like it before. Because we want the set to be young and fresh looking and not the "quilterly look" we are all so familiar with, the hunt for the unusul began. One particular lamp struck my fancy. Perhaps because it reminds me of some pedal pushers I once owned. I am not trying to scare you, I do have excellent taste, but it is a new day and changes are in store. Are you ready?

You people are the best! Because of your "heads up" it has come to my attention that my personal site www.alexandersonquilts.com is in need of TLC. My beloved webmaster Matt is going to try to make the upgrades and transitions as painless as possible (evening work), and hopefully in a week all will be A-OK. Thanks for covering my back.

The count down for taping our first episodes of The Quilt Show is around the corner. As you can imagine we are filled with many emotions, all good! On the shows, both Ricky and I will have opportunity to answer questions - to be exact, YOUR questions. Between the two of us, we have a solid background in quilting and we want to help YOU! I can't promise we will get to all of them, but let the games begin by posting your questions right here in Blog Land. We look forward to hearing from you!

168_571454.gifHave you had the chance to bookmark Gina's blog, the Quilters Buzz? I first met Gina a few years ago at market and what a bundle of energy she is! I really like her website and thought you ahould see it also (if you haven't already!). Added plus? I woke up this morning and she had given our community a nice plug. Thanks Gina. Check out the news about us at www.quiltersbuzz.com

167_987721.jpgThis years class at Asilomar (www.emptyspoolsseminars.com) was a little off the beaten trail for me. Rather than tackle a subject matter (ie stars), I taught Independant Study. What that ment was that each student came with her own project in tow to work on. There were fifteen students in total with projects varied in many directions. Over the course of the five days we significantly bonded as a group and pushed through many challenges. It got me thinking about how fun learning is and that at ANY age we must all aspire to continue our education. It reminded me of a conversation I had with Ricky over the holidays. Pushed to learn Power Point, by the man himself, I was lamenting about "wasting" two days learning the program. He quickly (and kindly) stopped me in my tracks by saying, "you are never wasting time when learning". How true that is! At the end of the five days I asked my students to committ to what thery are going to learn in the near future and "just do it". What are YOU going to learn in the near future? Here is your chance to get it in writing! Kathy learned accuracy is key when working small scale.
