As you know the storm has caused great damage (like at Alden Lane). Little did I know when I was taping this blog for you what was really going on in my dear town. Apparently tomorrow is round three.

It has been wet and wild - I thought Livermore got by fairly untouched until I opened an email this morning - Sadly our beloved Alden Lane (host of Quilting in the Garden), lost a 300 plus year oak - the one that the front entrance driveway was designed around. In fact, it was the tree that held the Livermore school's 911 hand print quilt - remember? Fortunately no one was hurt, but as caretakers of these historical trees, they are devastated. My thoughts to my friends at Alden Lane - and to think I was worried about all the little plants.
As I was taking down the Christmas tree I noticed Santa left a present on one of the tree limbs - my first pair of tennis shoes - Imagine my surprise and delight! Little did I know that my love of red and shoes is deeply rooted. I am so grateful the elves found these shoes and made sure Santa had them in his sleigh.
As you know, both Ricky and I have been home for a few weeks - it doesn't mean grass has grown under our feet, but it DOES mean the possiblity to QUILT! Sometimes I find it difficult to sit and sew (a little A.D.D. goes a long way LOL), but not if a friend is sewing by my side. Dee came over last week and then again yesterday. We were AMAZED at what we accomplished. I was working on some applique and Dee a postage stamp quilt. She was inspired by a family quilt they have to good fortune to own. After telling me about it, we called her son Brett (who by the way is in my Kids Start Quilting book) and he brought it over. OM GOSH - I just had to blog it. The squares are less than an inch and the entire quilt is done BY HAND! A little blessing for my eyes - be sure to check out the edge.
Just like you, we have been chomping at the bit to get these ready for ALL of us. It is taking a bit more time than we originally anticipated. Status: The DVD is in the process of being authored and prepared for manufacture. You can bet we will jump for joy and toot the horns from the roof top when they are ready. Thank you for your understanding.
So what are you doing tonight? Our friends are coming over for supper and then leaving after we celebrate East Coast New Years. I am not a night time person and John has year end close where he works (accounting). Hmm - any suggestions for an easy and yummie super? I was hoping for crab - but apparently that is out of the question due to the S.F. oil spill.

Dear Ricky –
Last night at dinner we were reflecting over various aspects of this past year. While it has been an exciting journey – it is safe to say that many emotions were felt through out the year. When ever we hit a “bump” in the road, we would gather via ma bell and work things out. Has it been a smooth ride? If our guests only knew – We can laugh over some of it now, but perhaps the most riveting moment for me, was the morning you had been delivered the news that it would take several HUNDRED thousand dollars to get the site video ready. Apparently our idea was a bit before it’s time technology wise. We had already cashed the Bernina check, hired the crew and had taken subscriptions. You explained the situation plainly and clearly, then ended the sentence with, “we have excellent webmasters – they are working on this and we will be talking to them this afternoon – we are not going to give it another thought this morning – we have work to do”. “YOU SAY WHAT???” LOL – and our web guys did solve the problem.
I also remember standing at the top of the stairs right before the first taping – I am so glad Gregory Case / Photo man caught the moment.
And what about those bears? hmmm – you know revenge is sweet.
Anyways, thinking of you, reflecting on last year and planning for next.

Here we are the day after Christmas - If you happened to miss the Christmas treat Ricky and Justin prepared for us - DO NOT MISS! (locate a few blogs below) - in the mean time it is boxing day - .......................Getting my needles sharpened for the 2008 quilt - awesome - hand or machine applique, that is the question?
In running through some family pictures I found a Christmas photo of my first trike - unlike Ricky, I was pretty thrilled with the aspect of new wheels, epecially donning my donald duck cap! Note the suitcase - I still like cool cars, exotic clothing and appreciate a decent suitcase - somethings really never do change! Fun memories of presents - time to share!
Dear Ricky -
I can't believe our first year birthday is around the corner! If you had told me last Jan. 1st where we would be today, I would have thought perhaps you were smoking something unsavory. Isn't it amazing what the Internet has allowed us to do as an entire community? When I think of the friends we have made, it boggles my mind. Also, I wonder if people know that we have never even met web master Bob face to face? - Simply Amazing! And to think that we are working with Angel (my old boss at HGTV), the crew from Chicago (Harpo) and folks from all over CO (God Bless Lilo) - these are all people who have caught the vision and dream of ours. I never knew what working 150% really meant - but we all do now LOL.
The best part for me? (beside of course getting to know you and Justin on such an incredibly close level) - is the creative freedom we enjoy coupled with the instant communication possible worldwide -
Merry Christmas my friend -
