Meet my buddy Pam - she is a true celebrity stunt sewer - meaning she covers our backs when we are under a deadline. Recently when Ricky was in town, Pam stopped by with a drop dead fabric line project I had to make. THANKS PAM!!!! Also visit her wonderful blog, if you haven't found it already. Pam is a kick and my kitty loves her also!

Asilomar started as a place to help women who were coming to the cities to find work.  The story includes names like Hearst and Scripps.  It has a rich history including the "Stuck ups" and "Pirates".

For many years, in fact decades many of us have had the opportunity to experience Empty Spools Seminars in Pacific Grove, CA. This wonderful state owned park houses an incredibly inspirational atmosphere which has inspired quilters for decades. It is nestled between Monterey and Carmel, right on the Pacific Ocean. I can remember first attending as a student (probably about 25 years ago) and after about 5 years graduating to teacher. This is one of my coveted teaching gigs because not only do I get to spread the gospel of quilting, but I always come home immensely inspired. You might want to take a peek at their web site - and put it on your quiltie wish list. Or perhaps you have attended - if you have, who did you take? It is a personal goal of mine to once again attend as a student.

Here is the next quilt I promised you yesterday - As you can see learning a new technique can set you free. This was really quite easy and tons of fun to make. Again, the border was pieced using Ricky's basic soft curve piecing techniques in show 204 (watch today)

At the top of show 204 with Louisa Smith - Crazy about Curves (subscribe today), Ricky shows his cool method of piecing soft curves in an easy and painless way. This pillow I made for my daughter's new apt. implemented his technique. Also, tomorrow you will see another quilt I made that used the same technique in the border. I am really having a blast making these pieces.

LOVE - LOVE - LOVE Suzanne Marshall's bias stem method in show 203. Please note that it is REALLY easy to prepare on the machine as Suzanne suggested on the show. THANK YOU Suzanne - Can you hear me yelling and see me jumping for joy?! This little technique has changed my applique life as I once knew itTongue out.

As many of you know, this past year has presented MANY new opportunities to LEARN – for all of us! From basic computer “how to” (we felt your pain), video editing (Ricky and YOU felt my pain-lol), basic computer jargin (lol, rotfl) tp posting your own blogs - together we are learning! How fun is that? Besides all the techie stuff, my quilting has taken a turn. Not to forgo my basic love for traditional quilts, I have been experimenting with Ricky’s freeform approach to quilting – here is a peek of what I have been up to – This quilt was not only fun, but EASY to make. What new quilting technique have you tried in the recent past?

And I don't mean intellectually - Sparrow received a visit from her most favorite celebrity stunt sewer - that's right Pam came by today, bearing gifts for Sparrow. Periodically I get in a pinch and Pam Vieira McGinnis comes to the rescue, not only for myself but also others (because she is a celebrity stunt sewer, she cannot reveal names - lest lose her job). Because of Pam's presence in my sewing room she and Sparrow have developed a deep relationship. Today, when Pam revealed her darling gift, Sparrow preferred food over riches. But I want Pam to rest assure, her treat made it to the right place at the right time - and Sparrow is ever so greatful.

(John here.) I got Alex a new Flip Video camera. It's a beautiful day in Ca., so I decided to tape the birds returning to the bird feeder. Always the camera hog, watch for Sparrow our cat.

We are just about to head out to our friends house for a party! Not being a huge football fan, I decided to get busy on my BOM - perfect to take along to work on. As I looked at this photograph I realized the center part of our star logo is missing - oh well, I guess that will be the ONLY place there is a mistake on my quilt - lol. BTW: You will LOVE Suzanne's show which airs tomorrow - she has GREAT tips for tackling applique. I used her bias method for this block. I had never seen it before - perfect show at the perfect time.
