Recently my Dad got his first computer - he went red, apple red! Every month he goes to the mall for his apple training - today was his lesson. When he got to the store, he opened his computer and guess what came up - the Quilt Show, of course. The young man in this picture said, "My Mom loves that lady" - and when he found out who that lady was related to (thank goodness that is what he said lol) - he insisted on taking a picture with my folks. Dad just sent me the email - and YES, you can become computer literate at ANY age!

In my class room we are discovering how easy it is to compose quilting designs, enter here. We are currently learning how fun it is to draw cables. Also, I have discussed the basic rules to determine what to use where.  My dear friend Wendy Grande was over to help me with a stitching situation and in exchange I am helping her with a feather situation. John urged me to pick up the camera and document the process. You might be familiar with Wendy's work from a past blog - November 4th, 2007. Her work is fabulous and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her quilt top. This is part one of four -

Let's hear it for SEW DAY! A few times a year i have the delicious opportunity to sew ALL DAY LONG with my buddies Marlene, Susan and Deb - Everyone arrives mid morning and then sews until late afternoon. All topics are open for discussion and a laugh or two is guaranteed. Deb and Marlene worked on applique' and Susan trimmed off snips and tails of threads from the back side of her latest quilt. As for myself - I worked on a CHALLENGING free form style qult - of which we all gave our ten cents worth regarding the layout and design (thank you!!!). The really cool thing about our group is that we met many years ago via the Internet - and would have probably not ever met otherwise. If you have a sew day, tell us about it!

Hey wait a minute!!! I thought it was supposed to be about fabric, books and patterns - but look what caught Ricky's attention.................lucky thing the store was closed - it could have been a costly stop - Like the mother of the groom dress I found (and bought) in Portland OR! - While attending market! Surprised

When it is spring and we are on the road, chances are it includes Spring market. Market is where quilt stores check out the latest and greatest for YOU! Market is where they decide where and how to spend their pennies. For folks like Ricky and myself it is a time of gathering with friends - this year market is being held in Portland, Or. LOVE this city.  First night? Fish flambe at a most fabulous Thai resteraunt - with Ricky, John and Matt (my beloved web master for www.alexandersonquilts.com) Yummie, yumnmie - good for the tummie.

Speaking of National Teacher Day - Meet my daughter, Adair - or to her students, Miss Anderson. Although she does not consider herself a quilter, this visit to her school and class room makes me wonder. To learn more about the quilt in her class room make sure you are signed up for Series Three - In September you will discover the secrets of this quilt.
