I did not know what to expect of St. Petersburg, Russia - it is simply an amazing city. It is filled with incredible architecture and many, many wonderful things to see. This morning we went to Peter´s palace - The city is clearly in transition with restoration going on every where. First I want to share a few photos of the palace - unfortunately, no flash photography. But take my word for it - they had way too much money and knew how to spend it. Up next - the "garden".

Honestly - I did not know what to expect at this port. We were 100% charmed to death. The "old town" dates back in architecture to the 1200´s. The cobblestone streets were bumpy at best and sensible shoes were in order. The town is known for textiles which was a plus beyond plus!!! In addition, the locals get into the scene and transport the tourists back in time. This town knocked my socks off and I am SO glad we had the opportunity to experience it´s unique charm. BTW - check out the people tower - it was awesome!!!

Watch for the dolphins beside the ship.  There are 59 in all and we are getting close.

Here come the Vikings.  Vikings, stars and a map of where we are.  Which are you voting for?

Stars, log cabins, windmills, horses, and a Russian egg.  Lots to see and vote for.  Thank you again for your help.

It´s really hit or miss on whether the ship´s internet will let me upload the pictures.  Please subscribe to Series 3 so I can pay my bill (at .40/per minute) and be allowed off the boat!  Keep on voting and we will keep moving forward.

Isn´t this fun?!  I will try to give you updates on the voting.  You can tell by now that there is one fabric everyone had to use.  Great work.

The first picture is the Oslo Town Hall.  It has been fun putting these pictures together because the blocks are so creative.  They are even better in person.  So start voting and we will have a run off. If the ship internet allows, I will try to put up 2 a day.  Enjoy!

Today we spent time in Germany - Many of the quilters chose to take a three hour train ride to Berlin, but we decided to stay closer to the ship and visit Rostock. It is a fascinating city that goes way back in time, but basically had to rebuild after WWII. The newer buildings are beautiful and then here and there you will see an old building. We ran into a quiltshop and noticed that a quilt show is next weekend. I was pretty thrilled when I saw that they had my Simply Stars book translated in German. But that was only to be topped when FINALLY I found pickled fish to enjoy (sorry Ricky) - so - so good!!
