After sharing her little Neutral beauty (see blog below), Pat whipped out this quilt for all to enjoy!
Pat from Auburn, CA brought along this little treasure of hers from last year. And kudos to Pat - this sweet baby took a ribbon! Up next, wait until you see Pat's next quilt! Stick around.............
Cindy (who is an original retreatie) also brought her Neutral project. It is amazing to see how such a simple pattern can lend such a sophicated look when working in this color pallet.
Here is Mary from PA and her quilt. Last years theme was Neutrals (based on my book Neutral Essentials) and this pattern was from my Simply Stars book. Mary works for a company that includes travel - How perfect that one of her clients is located in the bay area. Amazing how they need to see her every mid Nov - as a wise person once said, timing is everything!
Here's a close up of the border. Your wish has been granted - wouldn't it be great if life were that easy?!
Susan Moore is the initial organizer for the retreat. She is the person who takes the sign ups and handles all the "before" ENDLESS details that it takes to put on the retreat. This is a quilt that she recently found at her Mother's house. It was in pristine condition and has an unusual border treatment for this classic pattern.
This past week I have been hosting a back to back retreat in my own stomping ground - Livermore. This gathering started 8 years ago because of a message board on my personal website www.alexandersonquilts.com (although the site is active, the message board is no longer around). I believe there were about twenty five people in the first year, and now we have grown to two sessions, each with 38 folks. This year the theme was scrap quilts, along with itty bitty mini classes taught by Paula Reid and myself. The idea of the retreat is to gather with like minded people and basically just have fun doing what we do - and that is quilt! Over the next few days, I will post images for you to see. Check out this quilt that Holly knocked out using my Accuquilt!
In case you missed going this year - here are a few things from my special exhibit.
OK Gang - We want a head count! - Who are we going to see in the TQS booth? And keep in mind that 1:00PM each day is the "official" gathering time for members to meet up in the booth - of course anytime is fine with us! (Can you hear the impatient rapping of fingers for this next weekend?) AND if this weren't cool enough, my kids and extended family are going to be there - it's so exciting!
