Just the other day I was in Walnut Creek CA (Adair is moving there over break) and I heard there was activity in Diana McCluns studio (you might have seen an article about her space in a recent Quilters Home Mag) - So I picked up my camera to capture what the elves were working on. I have to tell you that these aprons ARE ADORABLE and you can order them from their site. They accept Visa and MC - you can order by fax 925-944-6428 or just mail them the information. I have always LOVED their work  - take a peek at their site here.

It is safe to say that my most favorite Christmas presents are the hand made ones. Often my Dad comes up with something really funky and fun- Take example this cool fish, it is a breed from the great lakes of Door County. I am not sure what it is (Dad claims it is a fresh water fish that romances in early July), but non the less.....Laughing - His sense of whimsy is remarkable and I smile when ever I see it (check out the eyelashes). Are you making gifts this year and if so what and for who? Please share in show and tell - we all want to see!

At Houston TQS members Margarita and Joe slipped an envelope into my hands. I didn't open it there for fear I would not give the contents the attention it might deserve. And WOW is all I can say. This is an incredible piece that was a cooperative project with many hands. The original design is by Sr. Paulette Kirschensteiner, design and fabric selection by Joe, Fabric approval and applique by Margarita and quilted by Shari Bahr. This is an incredible piece - thank you for taking the time to get the envelope with the picture to me! and also take a minute to check out Margaritas profile - wow!

I LOVE getting my hands on my new fabric collections! This round it is called Whisperings - the fabrics are wonderful blenders to up date your stash. At the same time I am trying to clean out the garage so John can wiggle into his car - So, I had a brain storm, go to my personal site here and order three items (books, patterns in any combination) and you will receive a fat quarter of my new line, a 1/2 yard from an older one and the free pattern that comes from P&B. If you want to have a certain color of the new line, please put that in the comments line ON YOU ORDER FORM (not here) and please give me a few choices. I am so super excited about my new fabric - Tongue out

No kidding, this orignal motif of mine was really straight forward to draw. Make sure you check out the latest installment in my classroom. You will want to run and grab a pencil and give it a whirl yourself!

Perhaps you remember this quilt in progress. I am so excited to have had a few days to QUILT (now that is a novel concept LOL). I am still deciding how to quilt it and can't wait to get on that. Amazing with a little quiet time what can be accomplished. Let us see what YOU are working on here - then please raise your hand if you have done so.

When we returned from Quilt Market we showed you in the Daily Blog a sneak peak from Alex's new line of fabrics, "Whisperings".  It was originally set to be shipped to stores in February.  But many of you wrote to us at TQS and said "WOW!  I love these fabrics. Can't wait to get them"  and "I wish your fabrics would be available in time to do the 2009 BOM".

We took your comments straight to P&B Textiles, and they heard your wishes!  P&B will start shipping "Whisperings" in December.  Now, not everyone who placed an order at Market will receive it right away.  But hopefully enough will receive it so that you can add it to your BOM!  So start looking and asking for "Whisperings" in December and January!

Be sure to click here to thank Julie at P&B Textiles, for not only getting you the fabric faster, but also for being a Site Sponsor of TQS.  Thanks Julie!

As you can see, it was a very energising week. To recap, the idea of the retreat is for people to gather with like minds, sew and create. The format is essentially independent study with small break out sessions. What has grown is extremely heart warming, as serious life long friendships have been built, and to think it all started on the Internet! - But HEY - I am singing to the choir here! This last quilt was made for Debbie as a house warming gift from Holly, Marlene and Deb - and that is the true spirit of the AAQ Retreat. To get a general idea of what the retreat is about go here (it will be updated soon for next year's info). Registration for 2009 opens to the public April, to get on the wait list write directly to Susan at sujielee@hotmail.com,
