One of the great things about Quilting in the Garden is that I get to see both friends and colleagues. Lisa came camera ready and prepared this blog for their site. You might want to take a moment to check it it. It just tells more of the story. Mark your calendars for next year (September 25th and 26th) as featured artist is another member of the TQS family - our own Sue Nickles!
In addition to hanging out at Quilting in the Garden this weekend in livermore CA (it's FREE)- I am also gearing up for market and festival. Because my deadlines have been hitting hard and fast, Elizabeth Scott offered to make my "free pattern" quilt that always accompanies each line. (I love people who help in a pinch - let's hear it for celebrity stunt sewers - and she is a celebrity in her own right!). To chill I was browsing the web and stumbled on her blog - to see a sneakie peekie as to what she did click here.
We gave Alex a quick call this morning to update us on Quilting in the Garden. The special artists this weekend are Laura Wasilowski, Joanna Figueroa, and the Pixeladies. See more at this link

Laura's show #303 is our sample show. If you haven't seen it, or haven't seen it in a while, take a look and be ready to smile.
While we are all running around like chickens with our heads cut off (getting ready for the next round of taping in Boulder next week) - you can imagine my relief when this box of quilts made it back to Mama.....all the way from Costa Rica. Although they are tightly bound - I know they are super relaxed from the Costa Rica experience - Pura Vida baby! We can't wait to go back...............if you are ever in San Jose, Costa Rica say "hi" to my friends at El Costurero. THEY are responsible for building the Costa Rican quilting experience.
I mentioned yesterday that Sandra Betzina gave me a gift - well check this out! It is for flatware when you are hosting a pot luck - a little bit of quiltie, friends and food all mixed together - what could be better?! BTW: Sandra says that she has a video coming out soon on how to make this - maybe if we ask nicely????
Every year I anticipate TODAY! Today is just as special to me as any major holiday - (hmmm - you might be wondering if I have lost my beans) - but NO - TODAY is the day! Every August, I wait for the day that I can SEE and FEEL that autumn is around the corner. I can tell by the way the shadows are cast on the ground and the smell of the air. It is TODAY! Happy dancing for another year to be grateful for and anxious anticipation for fall. Happy dancing in Livermore CA for TODAY - one of my favorite holidays of the year. Is it the holiday TODAY where you live?
Way back in the day, when I was a stay at home Mom, I used to watch a S.F. based TV show called People are Talking -I LOVED that show. Periodically they had a sewing segment which was taught by Sandra. I found those segments to be very inspiring because I loved to sew. Fast forward, HGTV hires Sandra to host a sewing show on their network. Finally I met Sandra at a Habitat for Humanity build in Knoxville and found her to be incredibly charming and a VERY hard worker. Periodically over the years our paths have crossed, but never for any amount of time. A few days ago we connected and Sandra invited me to lunch - she too is launching a web base TV show that focuses on her expertise, garment sewing. Just how do you get your hand crafted garments to not hang on your body like a sack of potatoes - well Sandra knows! Take a moment to check out her site here. As we left, she handed me a gift and it was a really cool accessory for pot lucks - I will show you that tomorrow!
That's right, out TQS friend Paula was on WNYC radio in NY. Because the Internet is what it is, you too can hear it now, how great is that? Simply go here and scroll down to the date of August 20th. You go girl - we are so proud of you!
