Join us (Episode 905) for this "tip-top" technique episode, as New York City quiltmaker, author, and teacher Anita Grossman Solomon brings to the set an abundance of inventive and time-saving methods for cutting and piecing. Discover how to cut two blocks at once and how to use striped fabric to create dramatic effects. Pick up a bucket-load of rotary-cutting tips, as well as ideas for storage, sorting, and working in a small space. Even Ricky gets into the act, demonstrating three quick, alternative techniques for finishing: faux binding, facing, and framing.

It's the 25th anniversary the Danish Patchwork Association and they wanted Ricky to be their featured guest instructor to help them celebrate at the Danish Patchwork Association Annual Quilt Festival and Show held August 27 and 28 in Odense, Denmark. (Odense was the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen.)

Each year they try to hold this event in a different location so that every part of Denmark is visited. This is a major event for guild members and patchwork and quilt enthusiasts from all over Denmark.

It will be held at:

Odense Congress Centre Denmark
For more details go to www.occ.dk
(Much of the site is in Danish, use your brower's translator if necessary.)

Here's Ricky's schedule, he'll be giving three lectures/demonstrations:

Saturday morning: Just a Quilting Fool

Saturday afternoon: Kool Kaleidoscope

Sunday morning: Rhapsody Quilts

He'll give a little bit of laughter and a little bit of music with his Native American flute - not a full-blown concert, just a touch of fun.

4078_quilts_for_japan.jpgTQS members, "Quilts for Japan" needs your help with our second phase of relief efforts for the survivors in Japan.

In response to a recent request they have launched, "Project Threads of Hope" which they hope will bring a sense of purpose to the lives of the survivors who have been facing long and difficult days with no jobs to go to or homes to run.

Quilters around the globe upon first learning of Japan's plight, sewed their gifts from the heart to warm the survivors and to bring them hope. Now it's time to work together to share with them what we love, the art of quilting, sewing and creating treasured items for our loved ones.

They ask for your support once more and hope you will find it in your heart to help these people who continue to struggle to find meaning and purpose in their days.

To learn how you can help, click hereThey have a September 24, 2011 deadline for collecting kits and supplies.

We were all surprised by what can be done on a long arm.  Applique? Clothing?

The taping is off to a great start.  Today we had a quilter who works with computers and one that works with Rub a Dubs.
