Libby was pretty alert this morning when she opened her eyes. Per Ellen's suggestion played music from iPhone and she smiled - a lot. Oh what a beautiful site those sweet slight smiles are. Held her hand and we "hand danced" gently swaying to the rhythm of the song. Think she is stuck in the '80s & 90s as she responded to Crystal Gayle, Eddie Rabbit, Don Williams & Wyonna Judd. Running a bit of a low grade fever but still lots of leg movement on right side. Thank you Cathy & Bill for getting photo upright. May everyone be showered with bliss & grace today! Muy besitos ~ Sarah

Long-time quilter, teacher, and self-confessed "obsessive quilter" Ann Petersen thrives on producing sharp points and perfectly pieced blocks, and loves to share her techniques for piecing success.

In this episode, Ann demonstrates her method for piecing accurate curves with the aid of freezer paper and just five pins! She also reveals her ingenious method for foundation piecing...without the fuss of paper to remove.

Libby has been transported to a new hospital where she will begin very slow rehabilitation. I understand her first day there was tiring and so her progress was not evident. However, the general improvement continues.

The family has set up a Caring Bridge page where you can get updates directly from the family. This will be the best way for you to get your information. RIcky will continue to report from time to time, but urges you to visit this page - sign the guestbook and submit your email so that you can get email updates if they are sent.

God Bless Libby.

It's not often that the quilting world is featured in business journals. This week, however, the International Business Times mentions in an article that quilting (and the work exhibited in the National Quilt Museum in Paducah,KY), while perhaps not forefront in everyone's mind, is changing the way many think when it comes to what constitutes fine art.

"If not already a believer, everyone who visits the museum leaves converted as to the magnificence behind the museum's many masterpieces," says Museum CEO Frank Bennett. "What's more," he says, "they come away with a new sense of respect for what's been one of the most misunderstood, yet growing art forms in the world."

In Episode 1113, the TQS crew stopped by the museum for a visit while taping our 2012
Legend show. SHOW 1113 IS OPEN TO ALL MEMBERS THROUGH SUNDAY.

Libby continues to improve - slowly, but surely. She is expected to transfer soon to another hospital where her rehabilitation can begin. Each day she seems more alert and it is evident that she is making progress.

During Lester's visit this morning Libby was awake and a bit more responsive than yesterday. She is unable to speak right now, but she communicated by blinking her eyes in order to answer questions. She also smiled at Lester a few times. She is moving her head left to right a bit and she squeezed Lester's hand several times - once was a strong squeeze. She remains in critical condition, but we can celebrate another baby step in the right direction this morning.

Libby is waking up! Lester was with her twice this morning. She was awake for 20 minutes the first time and about 30 minutes the second time. She responded to his voice by blinking and raising an eyebrow. As you can imagine, this was a great relief since it is the first signs of returning to consciousness since the surgery last Wednesday.

She is still in critical but stable condition. This status is predicted to remain until Tuesday or even later. But we can all celebrate this change of events.

The "stars are out" at the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch in Gallatin Gateway, MT, as Alex demos some clever - and easy - variations on the traditional Sawtooth Star block, and Ricky shows how to piece his Lone-Star-based Montana Star. (Cutting directions for the Montana Star will be available on the TQS website.)

This "stellar" show also features a visit to Valentine, NE, where Florentine Blue Thunder shares his amazing Lakota Star quilts and Vi Colombe (from the Rosebud Reservation in Mission, SD) shows us her stunning Circular Stars. Can't get more star-studded than that!
