March 9-11, 2007 – Seven quilt shops located throughout Western Connecticut and Eastern NY State are hosting this unique 3 day event.  Each quilt shop will represent a different country and each participant will be given a passport -  complete with a photo -  and will have 3 days to visit each quilt shop, which will have games and prizes and of course, will stamp your “passport”.  Each person completing the “World Tour”, having all of their passport stamps, will win a Trip Around the World tote bag.  All of the "complete" passports will be entered in a drawing for a grand prize.  For more information contact RoniG8@aol.com

Madison, WI – Sept. 13-15, 2007 – Enter your quilts NOW in this show to be held at the Exhibition Hall of the Alliant Energy Center. This three-day event is presented by Wisconsin Public Television and Sewing With Nancy®.  There are 10 categories with 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place cash prizes in each category.  First place wins $500, 2^nd wins $300 and 3^rd place earns $200.  The Best of Show winner will be awarded $1,500. Would you like to be part of our live studio audience for taping of The Quilt Show? Tickets are free! The first taping is March 9, 10, and 11. Here is the information you'll need.

1. Please do not request tickets unless you are certain you will attend. We have limited seating and will only provide enough tickets for the seats availalbe. If you take a ticket and do not attend, we will have empty seats that could have been used by someone else. We know where you live - if you don't use your ticket, the quilt police will come and get you! - All kidding aside, please don't request tickets if you will not use them.

2. The taping will last all day with a lunch break. So plan to sit for a while.

3. The taping will be held at Tims Art Quilt Studio and Gallery in La Veta, CO on March 9, 10, and 11.

4. You may choose to request tickets for one day, two days, or all three days.

5. Request tickets by selecting Contact on the Menu Bar and select General Inquiries for your subject.

6. Include your name - number of tickets - what day(s) you are requesting.

7. Lodging in La Veta is limited. A lodging list will be provided upon receipt of ticket request. It is possible that you will only find lodging outside of La Veta - 15-60 minutes away. (Walsenburg, Alamosa, Trinidad, Pueblo.

8. Additional travel information will be provided upon request - contact us via General Inquiries.

9. Tickets will be given on a first come, first served basis.

New Limerick, ME - The Friends and Needle Quilt Guild will be hosting their 3rd Annual Make A Blanket Day Feb 10, 2007. On their first Make A Blanket Day over 125 quilts were made. Last year over 80 quilters showed up to make 200+ quilts in one day to help fill th cupboards for children in need. Since theGuild formed the chapter two years ago, they have donated over 400 quilts. HOUSTON—January 15, 2007—It is the premiere wearable art event in the quilt and home sewing world, one which showcases the amazing creativity of seasoned artists and designers. The annual Bernina Fashion show brings together the best wearable art garments of the year, and the 43 designers whose creations will be featured in the 2007 edition, Diamond Odyssey, have been announced.

The show features meticulously sewn, quilted, and embellished garments from practical street wear to elaborate fantasy designs. And due to popular demand, there are more ways than ever to see the garments. In addition to the full fashion shows at the upcoming International Quilt Market and Festival this fall, each will feature a rotating daily display of garments. Festival will also feature a “Meet the Designers” section on the show floor.

The title of this year’s show is not just by chance—it celebrates a diamond anniversary. “2007 is the 75th anniversary of the Bernina Brand,” says Gayle Hillert, Senior Product Manager Bernina International/Special Projects Bernina of America. The company is actually 114 years old, but was originally called Fritz Gegauf AG, after the founder. “Bernina has been a family owned company for four generations. In 1932, we produced the first household sewing machine and named that division Bernina after a mountain in the Swiss Alps. And the rest is history."

Diamond Odyssey will premiere to the industry on October 28 at International Quilt Market, and to the public on November 1, at International Quilt Festival. Both shows are held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The garments will then travel to several other shows and venues, including the spring 2008 International Quilt Festival in Chicago.
The show features professional models, live commentary on the garments’ creation by Jennifer Gigas, Director of Education/Training for Bernina, and top-quality lights, sound, and music. A panel of judges will also vote on the best garment to receive the Bernina Crème de la Crème Award.

Any designer is welcome to submit a garment portfolio for consideration for a Bernina Fashion Show, and a jury of wearable art experts narrows it down to the final list of who will be in the show.
