Do you like this quilt? Would you like the pattern or the kit? Take the poll now.

Here it is! A sneak peek at Gaelic Blessing, a new quilt that Ricky designed with you in mind. Ricky's variation of the Double Irish Chain will make you smile. The central Celtic cross is an inspirational Irish icon. Ricky's dear quilting friend from Belfast says, "Most Celtic patterns are for smaller items like cushions or wall hangings.  How wonderful to have a blessing on your bed! If you are Irish - have Irish heritage - like Ireland - like The Celtic Women - believe in Leprechauns - enjoy Guinness - wear green on March 17th - or can spell "Ireland" - you might want to make this one! Stay tuned!

The quilt is created from Ricky's beautiful hand-dyed fabrics and the pattern and kit will be available near the end of March. What your inbox for a special edition of the Ricky Tims Newsletter and you can be the first to get the pattern or the kit. Ricky swears that this easy-to-make pseudo traditional quilt will find the luck of the Irish rubbing off on you.

We are having a great time at the La Veta Quilt Retreat and have reached the half-way mark. Each student finished this sentence.
"So far this week I have learned...?"

...that two boxes of Kleenex are better than one and you can learn a lot by listening. - Marion

...that an opinion is an opinion  - it's not right or wrong. - Jo

...that I have been exposed to an open, relaxing, creative atmosphere - and did I mention supportive? - Carolyn
...a great way to do blanket stitch around corners and curves! - Jill
...not to worry about how long something takes but to enjoy the process. - Myrna
...how to join fabrics in a wavy line and that I like my groove and am happy to be in it. - Karen

...to start a quilt "just putting it up there' - "Inspiration comes by doing!" - Wynn
...that while creativity is a process that can be complex, Ricky will show me the way, and my heart will guide me over the rocky parts. - Sharon
...to get rid of my fears - my inadequacy - and lack of knowledge. - Wendy
What have you learned so far this week - even if you weren't at the retreat?

I LOVE when I get to be home teaching retreats for a week. There are usually a few returning students who I've come to know and love in addition to the new students that I get to watch blossom. Today is the first of five days and already we are seeing and explosion of creativity. The photo above only shows a bit of what's unfolding and I look forward to the end of the week when we see the projects completed or closer to completion.

We have nine students this week. If you like, I'll share more of the classes progress. If you would like to know about the La Veta Quilt Retreats tucked away in one of Coloraodo's hidden gems - check out this link.

What creative push would you want from me if you came to a retreat?

Ricky entered a quilt into the Houston International Quilt Festival on a lark and WON 1st Place in the Innovative Pieced Category!  Congratulations Ricky.  The words in the dark bands are:

Can something come from nothing?  Can we stop the hands of time?  And the past is left behind.

The road of life moves forward.

Hey fans of Ricky's Kool Kaleidoscope quilt method.  A member remembered that Ricky did a short video to show how to handle your strata cutting if you come up short during the process. It seems the video went missing from our site, but we found it and here it is for our member and anyone else that needs this excellent tip.

If you have never made one of Ricky's Kool Kaleidoscope quilts you can learn all about it on TQS episode 403. Remember if you don't have Series 4, you can always purchase older series to put them into your TQS show library or use gift certificates you haven't redeemed yet.

In addition, Ricky's Kool Kaleidoscope book and DVD are available at the Ricky Tims Online Store.

Don't miss a chance to see Ricky Tims in person.  Great quilts, great music and great stories (and some theatrics!).  With an iPhone (and permission) we give you a quick taste of the fun in store.

I'm excited to be heading to Shipshewana, Indiana for the Shipshewana Quilt Festival 2012 which will be held June 20-23. It would be great to see tons of TQS members there. As you know, Shipshewana is the heart of beautiful Amish country. I was there in the wintertime a couple of years ago (see my photo above) and now I get to go enjoy Shipshewana in the summer sunshine.

Consider entering a quilt in their show (so I can see it too)! There is still time to enter! The deadline for submitting quilts is May 15th. Here is a link to the details for entering your quilt.

Teaching at the event will be Kaye England and Darlene Zimmerman along with other exciting teachers. If you would like to take a class, check out the schoolhouse information here.

Check out all the activities associated with the Shipshewana Quilt Festival.

Raise your hand if you are coming!

Greetings to everyone! I am in the middle of my very long, 57 day, 12 country tour. Recently I was in Moscow. I enjoyed a day of sight seeing and taught classes at Moscow's largest craft fair. In this video you will meet the two wonderful ladies who were responsible for my visit. You will see a few quilts in this video as well. I will be sharing a video featuring the quilts that were on exhibition and share some interviews with the artists - so stay tuned!

It is amazing to see what is going on in quiltling around the world. The enthusiasm for quilting in Russia is booming right now! What advise would you give the quilters in Russia?
