I, too, wouldn't redo the border. I like the suggestion of cutting away the background. You know you could also embellish those areas with other things like buttons, etc. didn't Janet do that on her quilt. You did a wonderful job on it. Beautiful.

Sue, it seems to me that you have at least two choices here. 1) make the circles more obvious so they become a feature rather than kind of blending in with the stars; 2) stitch down those stars and then cut away the back of the background fabric and cut off the extra bias strips up to your blanket stitching. I don't think I would be redoing the border if it was me. It's far too pretty.
