A World of Mistakes--I mean learning experiences!

Discussion started by drblt 10 years ago

Mindful of the "Big Black Blob" under my boot, I carefully outlined each letter twice, starting at the end of the phrase and working backwards.  Nearly finished with the "w", I squeezed just a little too hard--and the cap popped off the bottle and a glob of resist spread over the left upper corner!  I think I'll see if I can find a bottle with a screw-on top instead.

2.  I experimented with different colors after that episode.  The floor is inktense block--I was disappointed at how much color washed out.  I've used the blocks before without so much loss of color so i don't know what happened.

3.  The letters were inktense pencils.  The color held well.  The big problem was that I modified my lines as I placed the gutta.  When it dried, I couldn't see it, so I ended up coloring inside the pencilled lines.  In the future, I'll just stick with the dynaflow when I'm using the gutta  in these small areas.

4.  I used fabric marker in the right upper corner, trying them on both wet and dry fabric.  Not thrilled with either one.

When it was wet and slimy I used a brush on it in warm soapy water. Perhaps it wasn't water based gutta?

My pencil marks came out, but I am still trying to get out the gutta. Washed it by hand a few times, then in the washing machine twice on gentle cycle, and then in the washing machine again with a few towels on the long heavy cycle.

Weird! My inktense block background lost almost no color, but the dye na flo wouldn't stop pouring out. I attribute my problems to inadequate heat setting.

Pencil marks all washed out, must be all that scrubbing.

There is colored gotta, and I'm thinking I'll try parchment paper on my light table while I paint so I can see my lines better.

I had trouble seeing the gutta and went inside the pencil as well, next time I'll make changes in pencil first. The pencil washed out after I used a little brush on it and like you most of the colour came off but I like that look. I can use stitch to define it again and add more colour. Perhaps I didn't iron it long enough
I used Pebeo setacolor.

Oh, and my pencil marks didn't wash out. Anyone else have that problem?
