Gutta

Discussion started by JudithA 10 years ago

I found it difficult to apply an consistently even line of gutta.   I ended up with globs of gutta in my gutta lines.  My hands are not very strong.

Is there an easier technique for applyng gutta?   I looked at the Dharma website. There seem to be a variety of tools, but I could not tell which one(s) would be easier to use.

I got some of the gutta off with a stiff bristle brush. The rest of it came off easily by scraping it with the edge of a credit card, after I had heat-set it and then soaked it in water overnight.

Thanks Lea for your comments on this great technique as anything we do, it all takes practice, practice, practice. I am amazed at what has been posted so far. Great Job everyone.

It takes practice, but this is the easiest way that I have found for outlining. It is possible to get the tips in different sizes. Smaller tips help to prevent the globs, but they require more pressure to squeeze out the gutta. You have to develop some strong forearm and hand muscles.
