Have you made a QOV or do you want to make one?

My local quilt guild has a very active group of people who make Quilts of Valor (QOV). They have presented quilts to many veterans in wonderful presentations at veterans events and at our county fair. I'm inspired to make one and have collected quite a bit of fabric, but haven't quite decided on which pattern to use yet. The QOV foundation's website has free patterns here:  http://www.qovf.org/patterns-list.html

In a recent newsletter from Fons and Porter, I saw the pattern "Libby's Log Cabin" which I think is one I will use. I'll use red, off white, navy, and tan fabrics.  Here's the pattern:  http://www.shopfonsandporter.com/product/libbys-log-cabin-quilt-kit/new-arrivals

It is a nice pattern. Just joined this group--I've made many QOV's and still do. The latest edition Fons and Porter has a nice star quilt pattern that looks like it would be fun to do--the stars are different sizes which makes it visually interesting.

That is a beautiful pattern. Love the design running through it. If you need any more fabric, I have lots of those colors. Nwoods.

That's a pretty quilt, but I think it will be even more striking in the reds, whites, tans, and blues! I have a QoV that I've been working on, off and on, for a couple of years, but I'd really like to get it finished this year. It's a collection of several star blocks of different sizes, plus some appliqué blocks, plus some Dresden plate blocks. My challenge will be to make it into a nice-looking whole!
