Hi Twiglet - I sent photos to fotosonfabric.com and she printed them for me. She has other size options, and she did a great job. I was quite pleased! Absolutely run with it the idea...I don't consider my idea so much as something I did. I did stabilize the back of the fabric photo first using the same lightweight knit stabilizer I use for t-shirt quilts, and did the thread art with the stabilized photo-fabric and batting. Then I attached the backing separately.

Thanks, Twiglet! It's about 11.5 inches tall and about 17.5 inches wide. The photo was printed to 12x18, but with the stitching, it shrunk down a tad.
