Wow, this block brings back memories! I got the original Alex Anderson paper piecing book, and made the economy block quilt for my Mom who was moving down here with me. Turned out great! And, I also remember Alex's remark about the seam ripper in Quilter's Newsletter Magazine in her monthly column. And yes, I use that seam ripper a lot. I've also sewn two pieces instead of one, lost pieces, etc. Thanks for the great videos!

Hi Karen - You will LOVE this when you get the hang of it. Basically it is just as simple as it looks - always end the stitching line with the little flag of fabric and you won't get a thread bundle. When you end the piece you are stitching use another little hunk of fabric. Saves both thread and stops thread bundles. A

Could you explain your use of the starter/ender (I think that is what the scrap is called). I went off the deep end and bought a Bernina 570QE (covid-19 overreaction) and I am struggling so much with starting--bird nests, clicking/grindi ng noise at times when the machine starts, especially with pivoting with the needle down. I have never owned a Bernina. I need a class, of course, but won't be able to take one for maybe a long time.
